Father refusing to give daughter back

Posting here for traffic, I'm sorry.

Posting for a friend.

Her ex was meant to have contact with their almost 2 year old and is now refusing to give her back.

He unfortunately has parental responsibility.

He is a drinker and sniffs cocaine most days.

Does ANYONE have any advice please? She's absolutely absolutely beside herself.

Having a night out isn't a green light to hand over residency of your dc!! Ask the police for a welfare check. Has he got everything the dc needs for the night? Imagine police knocking and dc be hysterical they have no dummy /blanket /favourite toy. He prob be glad to hand her over! He may have PR but keeping unarranged overnight isn't in the dc's best interests.. A court won't back him.

Speaking from experience here...the police are highly unlikely to do anything. I was in almost exactly the same situation and they called him (after I insisted) and he told them that I'd battered our son and that's why he was keeping him. The police refused to get involved and said it was a civil matter.

First thing Monday morning I went to a solicitor to apply for an emergency order, I think the form was c100 and with help of solicitor was going to cost £350. Thankfully he gave my son back later that morning and he's never had our children again. Social services investigated his false allegations and all sorts of safeguarding issues on his side were discovered!
