Help!! Has anyone had scabies?

Okay so this is embarrassing but I’ve recently had scabies and treated myself last night (slept on the floor!) two days ago I send all of my bedding to the ‘dry cleaners’ and have just got it home, re made my bed and got into it, to see that on my invoice it was simply a wash and press.
the website states they was at 30 degrees (scabies die at 50) BUT it was all tumble dried and pressed.
will I be okay? Will the tumble drier and iron press have killed the scabies or have I wasted my money and re infected myself 😭😭

I worked at a care home when we had a scabies outbreak. Passing on scabies via bedding is quite rare (it's more likely to be skin to skin). If it was tumble dried then presumably it will have been on a very high heat and any mites will have died so you should be ok. I feel for you, it's an awful one to go through.

Thankyou! I’m just worried as it says everywhere to wash at a high heat- feel like an idiot not for checking. Also hoping that it was out of the house for 48 hours will have made a difference. I’m not sure how hot a tumble drier is!

You could call them and ask how hot they tumble dry at (just for your own peace of mind). Honestly, I remember being so panicked about it all. I think I vacuumed the lounge until it was threadbare 😂

I just did and the lady didn’t know! I’m just hoping 48 hours out of the house has killed them as I’m not sure what temperature they were exposed to!

Christ don't torture yourself sleeping on the floor! Just do the treatment and then if you think it's cured, do it again for good measure. And make sure everyone in your household is treated as well.

My parents had it a couple of months ago. You don't need to sleep on the floor. You just need to apply the cream to every inch of you, then clean everything you come in contact with in your home. Anything you can't wash, put aside for 72 hours and don't touch it. The repeat the cream as per the instructions and you should be okay.

I’ve bagged up all my bedding and will leave it there for 72 hours to be safe. If it did still have scabies on it, do you think I will have put myself at risk just by sitting in it for half an hour? Sorry for all the questions but this ordeal has been going on for months and I now feel like a right idiot for not checking they did everything on a hot wash! X

I had scabies years ago, caught it in work. I remember it was no big deal. I moved to the spare room (lived alone) and put the lotion on head to toe as required.
Washed my bedding as normal after leaving it for a few days, didn’t have a tumble drier.

Yes, twice (once c/o a boyfriend, once through work). Both times cleared up with the skin treatment and without going to huge lengths re bedding, household goods etc.

Scabies mites don't live for long off the human body.

The main thing is to put the lotion on every single inch of skin below the neck (middle of the back often needs help; people often miss out places like between toes).

It can take a few weeks after treatment for the itching to stop. You'll know the treatment has worked, even if you're still itchy, because no new spots will appear.

I put on the treatment 4 weeks ago and still itching. How long does it take to stop itching
