Just not bother going abroad with kids ?

If you’re not loaded it’s such a massive gamble. I get massive anxiety before we go. Over the years taking kids abroad we’ve had travel sickness to the point of everyone being covered in vomit on a flight, broken bones, stomach bugs, food poisoning, ear infections and that’s nothing when you read about these people whose holidays have been ruined by wildfires, storms, airport standstills. I love a bit of sun but I’m really at the point were the stress is too much. Last holiday I tried to prep as much as possible, short flight, private transfer, kids had travel sickness stuff, lots of changes of clothing in the carry on, I took almost a full medicine cabinet with me but it was still stressful. Dd got food poisoning, I slipped around the pool chasing after the toddler, had a sprained ankle and cut my face badly. Appreciate these things happen at home too but it’s more stressful when you’re abroad and you’re paying so much money to have a ‘good time’. Anyone else feel like this?

YANBU. We spent two holidays in the air conditioned bedroom with DS when he was little. It was too hot in early May. Didn't bother again until DD was over 5.

Currently on holiday with DS6.

The trick (barring illness obviously) is to relax.

It doesn't matter if he stuff's himself with cake, or has a late bedtime.

You're on holiday.

We're at a rather nice AI and there are still parents stressing about kids eating their veg, make a mess of their outfit or having a melt down.

Chill the fuck out!

We have a 4 and 1 year old and no plans to take them abroad until they are a bit older and also because we don't have the cash!

We've just done UK breaks which have been really nice, go to a caravan/holiday park with a swimming pool/play area/beach access and don't really need much else at that age - they are easy to please and less faff for us!

I can't be arsed to go abroad at all, unless it's to a destination it's feasible to drive or get the train to.

I don't have a problem with flying, but I bloody hate all the hanging around at airports: the crowds, the boredom, the queueing really get on my tits and make me very grumpy.

If I could afford to fly business class, I might feel differently, but I can't.
