AIBU to expect my Mother's Day treat to be more than a lie in?

Especially as DH didn't get out of bed until 11.22am today...

At least you'll get one.
I'm on my own so I'll get jumped on at 8am by Ds chanting 'Night Garden!' at me!

Oh for a lie in! I will be woken at the crack of dawn by DS2 tomorrow as always!

Divastrop · 01/03/2008 17:46

technically,no,YANBU.but lie-ins are for men only,so i am led to believe.

i am married and will still get nothing.

Unfitmother · 01/03/2008 17:59

I'll be woken at some god-forsaken hour by them getting my 'surprise' ready v. noisily

TsarChasm · 01/03/2008 18:07

I love the way you say it was 11.22.. to the minute. I'm like that about noticing the detail when something p's me off.

bigbumhole · 01/03/2008 18:13

I feel your pain everylittlebreeze

littleducks · 01/03/2008 18:24

well surely that makes fathers day simple for you?

McDreamy · 01/03/2008 18:25

You're getting a lie in?

EveryLittleBreeze · 01/03/2008 18:45

In my defence, DS (2.5) does get up at 6.30am. This is on top of his open access to the All You Can Eat 24 Hour Mummmy Milky Bar whilst DH slumbers on blissfully in the spare room. DH will also moan all day about how tired he is and use this as an excuse to the be in a Very Bad Mood.

I would rather forego the lie in and be taken out for lunch intead but apparently that is sheer extravagance.

I'd hate to out for lunch on Mothering Sunday, it's the busiest day of the year for restaurants.

Walkthedinosaur · 01/03/2008 18:55

I've begged DH to let me have a lie in in the morning. It's my dream.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 01/03/2008 18:59

and decides that this is not a good time to tell MNers that she opened the fridge and it is full to the brim with yummy food and champagne.

My dh has been working ridiculous hours for the last week, leaving at 7am and getting back at 10pm, including today (saturday). I'll be doing the morning shift as always tomorrow and taking the kids out for the day so he can get some rest.Know what u mean about hating the idea ofr going out for lunch - its just an excuse for restaurants to cash in. It'll be lunch in Tescos cafe for me and the ds's.

WallOfSilence · 01/03/2008 19:01

I don't want anything.

Dh does as much for the kids as I do, if not more.

I got a nice pot of flowers for outside today. I can't lie-in as I get a headache.

[I'm aware I am odd though]

dh has a mate staying
they went to the supermarket and he came back with a bottle of white and a bottle of rose that he said were from the dcs for Mother's Day

What must his mate think of me

Have started on the white as they ahve buggered off out...

toomanydaves · 01/03/2008 19:03

not expecting anything, find the whole thing a bit euuuuuuch. I am not dh's mother.

marmadukescarlet · 01/03/2008 19:03

I had Mother's Day today as DH off to Aus in the small hours.

YANBU.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 01/03/2008 19:04

Lie-in sounds good to me!! We had chineses tonight, as DH is going away to Bavaria tomorrow !!!

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 01/03/2008 19:07

Well my DH's reasoning is he is out of the house from 7.30am until 7.00 pm and so the bulk of parenting falls to me. He and DS collaborate on this and they enjoy it.

Did I mention the smoked salmon...

VanillaPumpkin · 01/03/2008 19:07

I will be having pain au chocolat for breakfast, and Chinese supermarket ready meal for lunch (I know they can reheat this without any effort or washing up and the girls will eat it). I know this because I ordered it from Tesco.
To be fair we are quite strapped for cash so I said we couldn't go out and not to get me anything. I am expecting a cup of tea brought to me, but I get this every day anyway . I am hoping for some reading time. This would be a real treat!

nct73 · 01/03/2008 19:51

DP said that I should get LO up on saturday as I was getting a lie in for Mothers' day on sunday. I then pointed out that seeing as I usually get her up saturday & he usually gets her up on sunday (match of the day repeat)that it would be no different to any other weekend. He was suitably bashful at this observation and offered to do both but I said it didnt matter. LO kindly let us both lie in until 8.20am (rather than 7-7.30am)this morning so I guess that's her covered her treat duties (she is only 15 months).
