Hi
so I have a complex medically fragile DC, since Covid the school have been clamping down on attendance. I had a meeting at the school and was informed they understood our circumstances and there was no pressure on us. However the guidelines of keeping children off has changed.
apparently now if a child spiked a fever in school but has viral symptoms and are ok in the receptionists and head teachers reviewing them to carry on working they will remain in school and obviously in turn means children can be sent to school with fevers
I don’t agree with this at all but here we are, so my issue is. I have written an email expressing my concerns for this and that is there is a child in the classroom with a fever then my own DC should be sent home. Does this sound bonkers ?

for extra information 1 fever requires 2-7 days hospital admission for DC every time.

I'd be looking into whether the guidelines set by the dept of education have changed. Schools have a responsibility to prevent the spread of infection (hence the 48hour rule) so I'm very surprised at this (not saying you're wrong but that they are mad!)
In your position I would be saying the same thing. No way would I be risking hospitalizing my child.

"but has viral symptoms and are ok in the receptionists and head teachers reviewing them to carry on working " so are we to assume that the receptionist and head medically qualified to make such a decision? Bloody madness!

Sorry but that sounds just ludicrous. Aside from the infection risk to other children, what about the poor child forced to stay in school feeling unwell with a fever.

You don't sound bonkers what you're asking of them is a very good solution. However I know my sons school are ridiculous when it comes to sickness I think all schools care about is having good attendance stats and not what's actually best for children. My sons been ill before and the teacher said he should still attend surely that's not good for him or the other kids in the class.
