AIBU to buy this gift for my friend?

I want to buy my friend a special gift for her birthday as she’s a very special friend. I had an idea of paying from someone to create a photo of her daughter and father (her father passed away a few years ago and never met her daughter). You know when they merge 2 photos into one like it was taken at the same time. I’ve seen this be done before and it seems very special, however I’m worried this could upset her as it’s what she would have wanted for them to meet. What do you think?

Please don’t do this. I’ve lost my father and I would find this very unsettling and upsetting to receive.

I'm glad you've decided not to. I too wouldn't like it, even from my best friend of over 40 years I'd still find it well intentioned, but not for someone else to do. I'd want to choose the photos & keep the image to myself.

if it's expensive & you don't think she can afford to get it done herself you could offer to pay if she wants to do it & choose the photos hersekf.

what about a locket with both their photos in?

No, what an awful idea.
