What will you do with yours then?

K999 · 29/02/2008 20:24

Employ a nanny for the day.

not your own??
i love that my eldest daughter was at our wedding

personal choice i suppose

lol at the point number 5!

Emprexia · 29/02/2008 20:29

Personally, i don't think weddings are for children, and i don't feel receptions are appropriate for them either.

Yes, i had children at my wedding, but my Stepdaughter was only 11 and wanted to be a bridesmaid.. i couldn't allow her and not the others.

All i did was set up a table with some colouring books, puzzle books, crayons and paper...etc and made sure they were entertained.

I got seriously pissed off that my Stepdaughter was still at the reception at midnight, an hour after DH and I left because her mother who was invited purely as her chaperone decided to get DRUNK.

chankins · 29/02/2008 20:29

Each to their own - if it makes your day perfect not to have them there then thats what you should do. I personally loved having my dds and neice as bridesmaids, and invited every child I knew pretty much ! But thats me. I am a firm believer that the bride should have her way !

morningpaper · 29/02/2008 20:33

It depends what you think a wedding means

I think that a wedding is essentially a celebration about family, so not including all parts of the family seems nonsensical to me

Quattrocento · 29/02/2008 20:34

I think it is nice to have children at weddings - agree with the poster who said that weddings are ultimately about families

JeremyVile · 29/02/2008 20:36

I like weddings where children are included.
They tend to be far more enjoyable. Not necessarily because of the childrens presence - it just seems to work out that way.

Jacanne · 29/02/2008 20:36

We had a family wedding - lots of children, including our own, they all managed the reception and we had a great time. Our wedding was about celebrating our day with our family and friends - and that included the children.

I was completely outshined by my bridesmaids though

AlistairSim · 29/02/2008 20:37

It's your wedding, have what you want.

No children doesn't equal sacrificing fluffy kittens for the toast.

expatinscotland · 29/02/2008 20:37

No, YANBU.

I've been to both and don't really have an opinion one way or another, but it's your wedding and you get to decide.

diplodocus · 29/02/2008 20:38

Maybe you could just invite ugly ones?

funnyhaha · 29/02/2008 20:38

What MP said
None of the kids at our wedding (3 weeks upwards) did any of 1-4. No comment on 5

I like tripping over kids on the dance floor and getting blackcurrant juice spilt over my frock! Onlu joking i think weddings should have kids there. You are celebrating your life together and they are part of that. Your choice though!

K999 · 29/02/2008 21:32

Lol ladies...was only kidding!!!

My 2 will be there....although may still hire a nanny!!!
