Sorry if this isn’t quite an aibu… but mumsnet did “diagnose” my gallbladder infection years ago.

im 42 abs started getting migraines 8 years ago, as soon as my son was born.

Migraines got worse during Covid and now I have them about half the time. often I have speech issues when I have nigraines

this Friday I started having speech issues (stuttering, forgetting words. Jumbling word order) and have had migraines since.

on Monday I had ct scan at hospital and it looked ok. Am waiting for mri scan but no idea what’s wrong with me.

any ideas?

Aphasia can be a symptom of migraines with aura. And migraines can change as our hormones change. Are you in perimenopause, by any chance?

I would, however, ask for a referral to a neurologist just to rule out other things.

I could well be. But don’t know for sure. I still have periods: they are a lot less painful since having DS. But I have night sweats a lot these days. So think I’m heading towards perimenausp

Some migraines cause speech issues.

Google “migraine aphasia”. It’s totally A Thing.

are you on any preventive meds for the migraines? Getting them half the time is proper chronic. Talk to your GP if not.

I’m finding the Migraine Buddy app useful for tracking symptoms and triggers. Alerted me to factors I hadn’t thought of like changes in weather and air pressure. Worth trying if they are worsening. Hormone changes could definitely be part of it. Good luck

I am a migraine sufferer and I have frequent aphasia. My migraines are well managed by beta blockers now but the aphasia is much the same and got a bit worse. I've had a ct scan there wasnt anything there.

It was the aphasia that made me ask for a neurology referral it scared the shit out of me.
