To wonder who gets this money?

Through a panel I attend through work, I was asked to test a product for a month. I did so and provided feedback as asked. Now I have been told that each panelist will be paid for the trail. Some of the panel represent the demographic of the people I work with but aren't my clients, they're regular members of society I have met through the panel meetings and then a few of the testing panel were workers like me who were testing the product through the eyes of the demographic we work with.

All went well, I tested the product in my own time mostly and not work time. I was just wondering though, should I be paid the money or should it go to my employer seeing as the panel is something I attend through work? I hope it can go to me as I put lots of hours in the evening and weekend thoroughly testing this product out!

The money will probably be given to the organisers to appropriately distribute.

Did they take your bank details when you signed up?

SpeedbirdSquawker · 21/08/2023 21:18

Hi @GoodChat Yes they took my bank details but now panicking that it should perhaps be going to the organisation I work for.

Is there anything in your contract about this at all? Slightly different, but when I speak at events through work I’m not allowed to accept cash or expensive gifts but can suggest a donation to charity instead. Would be worth checking with your organisation as I’m sure this won’t be the first time this issue has come up.

If you've tested it in your own time surely it's yours? Not the same but if I'm traveling for work and the train is cancelled/delayed and I get compensation I get it although my company paid for it at its to compensate for my time lost above and beyond usual working time/expectations

It should go to you

roses2 · 21/08/2023 22:24

Is the product related to your job? Could you have tested it if you worked for eg Tesco as a shelf stacker?

In my organisation any delay repay compensation goes to them, but I get my time back

Quoted Wrong post, was meant to be the one about if a train is delayed
