Chicken pox - at what point to go out?

DC has had a horrible case of chicken pox, our eldest had it a couple of weeks ago but ended up with just a few spots and overall took it quite well.
Our youngest ended up absolutely covered, face, neck, shoulders, back you name it.

As of this morning they are all scabbed over and DC is feeling great, we are supposed to be going away on Monday for a few nights which was booked ages ago, we are doing Legoland and some other activities, I've read up online that once chicken pox has scabbed over it is fine however I am a bit hesitant about having the DC out with these scabs all over them, mainly in fear of being judged. On the other hand we would not want to miss out on the bookings we made if I am fretting over nothing.

Am I fretting over nothing and massively overthinking? Or should we cancel/try to re-book for a couple of weeks time?

Once they have all scabbed over you're fine. DS took an age for his scabs to disappear so if we'd waited until they were all gone we'd have been stuck at home for months!

They're no longer contagious once they have scabbed over. Go on your trip and hope you all enjoy yourselves

It's fine once they're scabbed over.

Go and enjoy!

If people judge you, who cares. You won't see them again anyway. And if anyone says anything to you, you can say "actually a child isn't contagious when they're all scanned over, so you can stop worrying". And then move on and ignore them 😀
