To want an invoice.

i have 3 kids attending nursery at the moment. Twins who are 10 months and a 4 year old. At the moment I am in credit at the nursery as I continued to pay it during my maternity leave. I am about a month ahead and each month I transfer over to the nursery what I roughly think the bill will be so I am always in credit by one month. This is a sort of security blanket for me as I am always anxious about missing a payment. ( I know that sounds mental but it keeps me right). I have asked the nursery many times over the last few months since the twins started there if I could have a copy of my bill for my own records so I know I’m keeping right with all my finances. Despite agreeing to they keep not doing this.
I feel uneasy about this as I never know how much they are actually charging me each month so I wouldn’t know if there had been a mistake etc.
I asked again last week for the bill from July so I could see what I was being charged for over the holidays and when I collected the kids yesterday they still haven’t done it.
AIBU to expect to have a copy of what I am being charged for or is it standard practice in nurseries to not bill/ invoice parents?

Email them to ask, rather than physically asking. It gives you evidence should something happen.

My nursery gives a breakdown invoice every term. It's a business providing service they need these for their own records.

Are you in the UK?
If so I personally wouldn't pay them in advance but just use the TF childcare account(s) as your savings pot so you know you have put aside.

No, it's not standard. Have you got a nursery app? All the nurseries I've used/know of have an app; where they do updates from the child and the monthly invoice is in there.

I'd second that you'll probably be better to pay your month ahead into your tax-free childcare accounts, rather than directly to the nursery. You'd have full visibility of it, then. My experience with nursery accounts departments has not been great - they're lovely people but not many of them seem great at accounting.

Are you using vouchers or tax free childcare.
They should be invoicing so you can keep track

No app, there is a Facebook group for general notices but I do not have Facebook and anything else is via direct contact with the nursery at drop off/ pick. I have used their email address to send in copies of birth certs and a medical letter regarding my daughter.
apparently according to a member of staff on Friday, They text parents the bill amount to pay that month if they don’t pay in advance but it is just the amount owed that month and not a proper invoice or similar
