There is a make of a Covid test that always gives a weird line, isn't there?(pic)

I'm sure I've had this before on a type of test like this.

Has this happened to anyone else?

In fact, perhaps it may not even show up to anyone else.

Yes I know there is a covid page but it's incredibly quiet there these days.

The purple ones do that but the line disappears after about 15 minutes.

I think it’s those particular tests. Did you read it within the allocated time because I always get a faint positive several hours after using that particular make.

Nope, but I’ve tested today. I thought at first it was a sickness bug but I’m glad I tested instead of just wandering off to see my Mum who is currently in hospital on a ward for elderly people.

But it would have been ok to visit your sick mum on an elderly ward with a sickness bug 🤦‍♀️

48 hours later after the last episode of vomiting yes - although I would have left it longer. But the NHS advice after covid is to avoid vulnerable people for 10 days.

We had trouble with Flowflex tests back in the day, as they always showed very faint positives like with when my son tested. It was only him in the family this happened to and a follow up PCR test came back negative on several occasions.

Reading about it at the time, we weren't the only ones who had trouble with Flowflex.

What brand is that one?

In general I'd say even a faint line is generally positive.

But yes, we had trouble with one brand of test and I think it was Flowflex! They seemed to come up with an extremely faint line if you looked at it hours after doing the test. Which in fairness you're not supposed to do - but other brands never did this.

Problem solved. I knew there was a particular make that have dodgy/kind-of lines.

I definitely don't think it's a true positive, but I will be testing before I go back to work.

(The top looks the same but it's a different make).

All supplied by gov website to NHS staff. All in date.

Yes! It was floflex!

That looks like my early positives from earlier this year. I think it's good you'll be testing again before you go back to work. My husband works for the NHS and they are recommending that he wears a mask if he's around anyone who is at high risk from a COVID infection.
