Is three full days enough?

Live overseas, formal schooling doesn’t start until age 6
My Dd just turned 5, she goes to pre school three full days per week
Is this enough?

Gosh need more context

Enough For who?

School?

Child?

Parent?

Nevermay · 17/08/2023 15:43

enough for what? none is enough and full time is enough. What is your actual question?

Hufflepods · 17/08/2023 15:44

Enough for what?

Miekle · 17/08/2023 16:01

Sounds much better than starting at 5! How do children who are educated in that country usually do? Surely that's your answer.

xyz111 · 17/08/2023 16:04

I have no idea what you're asking??

Dogsaresooomucheasier · 17/08/2023 16:11

If she’s starting full time in a year and you mean enough for her to get used to it I’d say yes, maybe increase to four days a bit nearer the time. But some kids will go to school having never been to pre school so I wouldn’t worry!

PinkPlantCase · 17/08/2023 16:12

Depends how the other 4 days are spent. If they’re in front of the tv all day then no.

Maxus · 17/08/2023 16:17

How long are the preschool days? Mine did 9 am-3pm in reception.if yours do a longer day in preschool say 7am-6pm I imagine overall they would do the same hours over less days.

Donutsforthewin · 17/08/2023 16:40

Enough in terms of socialising etc? Just enough at age 5 or should they go every day?
The other two week days are spent playing, reading, food shopping, library, park, beach, some tv, drawing, playing with neighbour friends. Weekends are for family time, trips out, ballet and play dates

This sounds lovely OP 😊

Sounds perfect

KnickerlessParsons · 17/08/2023 16:45

Presumably it's what all the other children do, so unless you're living in a very unsociable part of the world, and that unsociableness is caused by only going to school three days a week at age five, then I would say it's enough.

calmcoco · 17/08/2023 16:45

It's fine. UK approach is too much too young, this sounds nice.

StrawberryPavlova · 17/08/2023 17:03

My daughter is nearly 4 and will start school September 2024. She currently goes to a childminder five days a week 8-2 (she's been doing that two years now, I went back to work when she was 10/11 months old), and from next month she will be doing three days in the school nursery and two days with the childminder.

We felt three days in nursery would be enough for getting used to the routine and environment of school, and she will then have two days a week with our amazing childminder and will do things like farm trips, toddler groups, soft play, with her.

Donutsforthewin · 17/08/2023 18:21

@KnickerlessParsons The majority go every day-five days a week, that’s why I’m unsure, I feel it’s fine, but everyone seems to send them in every day

Yes it’s plenty. My son has just started school at age 5 and a half. He previously went to nursery two days a week. He is confident, sociable and has good friends.
