I’m in a 3 bed house with garden and drive, open plan kitchen/diner, two reception rooms and two bathrooms. Mortgage 1k a month. AIBU to think pretty much anywhere in the uk to rent would be more than this and as mortgages go it’s not too bad either?

Well my mortgage is £234 for my six bed two bathroom with large back garden and two car front drive so it's all relative.

Why are you going part time if that’s going to affect your ability to pay a mortgage OR rent?

Can you afford it? That is all that is relevant.

When we bought a lot of years ago, the rent on a similar property would have been dearer than our mortgage, but it was really difficult to get a mortgage because we couldn't afford it! So how were we meant to afford rent?
