So what’s given me food poisoning then?

black bean and butternut squash tacos

fresh BNS
canned black beans
new mini tortillas
grated mozzarella

then some salad, cucumber, celery, pepper and carrot all washed throughly

I’ve read that the new covid strain causes sickness and diarrhoea.

Tinned beans are cooked in the can and don't have the same toxin issues as dry beans which can be an issue if undercooked. The only way I think the beans would be the culprit is if the can was damaged or had been opened and then stored incorrectly or for too long. I vote salad or bug.

When you say fresh butternut squash, was it cooked or raw? I don't think raw squash would be that good for your stomach!

So the salad wasn’t a pre packed salad mix it was just veg in the fridge washed and chopped

cheese was pregrated but a brand new pack

butternut squash was whole and bought from supermarket and cooked until soft and then the black beans added and simmered with some spices (nothing actually spicey though) and tomato purée and water to make a sauce- so everything was well cooked

How do you feel otherwise? My DD had the same days ago and has now tested positive for Covid as have most of her colleagues.

My bet is the salad. I once had awful food poisoning from an innocuous looking lettuce that I’d washed thoroughly. It was awful. So much so that I avoid lettuce now.

Aside from the nausea and crampy tummy and lava I feel tired but ok

@Dreamingofthree Interested to find this thread from last year. I had the exact same black bean meal minus the salad last night and all day have had stomach pain, bloating and now spectacular runs...I suspected the beans since I know I reacted to black beans years ago (made me so flatulent it hurt!) but given how many pulses I eat these days I felt pretty confident I'd cope with the black beans now. Well apparently not. I am NEVER going near a black bean again!
