To think this is just quite cute

I’ve got 2 DS’ 18 and 16 and they’re both on summer holidays after A levels and GCSE’s today they’ve both gone to the cinema to do a ‘barbenheimer’ marathon. I suspect they both really wanted to just see Barbie and didn’t have the nerve to say that. I don’t mind (not that there is even anything to mind) and am just pleased they get along now they’re both almost adults. However, my friend said it’s a bit strange for two teenage boys to go and see a barbie move. Aibu to think it’s not strange at all and just find it quite cute, if anything?

It’s neither “cute” nor “strange”

staruing a thread about it though

…. Is a bit strange

TheProcrastinati · 14/08/2023 11:57

Not strange at all - good in them

WhateverMate · 14/08/2023 11:59

You know it's not strange.

Therefore that makes your thread strange 😁

My 24 year old son went to see it with his mate the other day. It's completely normal for anyone to want to see a much publicised film when so many people will be talking about it.

Neither cute nor strange. It is not a movie about a girls doll, it is a movie about the patriarchy and societies expectations of women. Given all the talk in the press and on social media I'm not surprised they want to see it.

It's lovely that they're so close but I know a lot of teenage boys who have gone to see both movies including my own. I think alot of people are missing the point with the barbie movie and if I'm honest I think it's a really good movie for teenage boys to see!

I think it's lovely that they have such a great relationship with each other & will go & watch films together. I hope that my DC will do similar when they're older (they are currently primary school aged)

Hufflepods · 14/08/2023 12:09

It's not exactly cute for 2 siblings to go to the cinema together.

My 32 year old son went to see Oppenheimer with his mate, asked him how it was “not a barrel of laughs, wish we’d seen Barbie”
