Canine terminology & tolerance

Dog owners and shelters seem to use their own secret language to whitewash the dangerous reality of their animals. I think this leads to aggressive and dangerous animals in the community - which wouldn't have been tolerated 20+ years ago.

For example:

'Reactive' = Unpredictable, highly aggressive and dangerous dog. This may be due to known triggers or just any random event.
'Dog selective' = unpredictable and dangerous aggression towards dogs, which means the dog shouldn't/can't be around any other dogs. Which, in turn, means the dog shouldn't be walked in public without a muzzle (fat chance!).
'Human selective' = unpredictable and dangerous aggression towards people, which means the dog can't live safely in any community and shouldn't ever be taken outside the home.
'Best in a pet free home' = will try to kill all other animals.
'child free home needed' = will try to kill children.

What has happened to responsible dog ownership? Why aren't these dangerous dogs just put to sleep?

Does the language used just normalise what are ultimately very aggressive and dangerous dogs? If so, why do all dog owners seem to play along with this dangerous whitewashing?

YABU.

My dog was described as best in a home without children. He loves playing with children - for about half an hour. Then he likes his nice middle-aged nap in peace and quiet. It’s not because he would kill anyone. Even if he wanted to, half his teeth had to be removed because of infection when he was rescued. It’s just because he is happier in a home that is quiet and calm most of the time.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Indeed, either being incredibly disingenuous to further a rather obvious agenda, or just wilfully ignorant.

You again 🙄

You sound like you have serious issues.

child free home needed' = will try to kill children.

This usually means that the dog has been abused by children in the past to the point of defending itself.

Jargon is specific terminology you use in one setting. Its not a secret language, they aren't The Freemasons.

Those phrases don’t actually mean the things you apparently think they mean, though. I’m afraid you’re talking total bollocks.
