Sharing room= better sleep??!

Is it mental to think my girls might sleep better if they shared a bedroom? Ages are 3 and nearly 6....

They are total minx's (minxes, minxa minx' whatever!)
I have tried to parent in a gentle way and I swear to gawd I've created a "rod for my own back" (my mother's voice is echoing as I say that)

So takes about 2+ hours to get the 6 year old asleep. Similar to the 3 year old ( she has stopped nursing recently so I think that's fair enough as she adjusts. Have tried different bedtimes/ earlier mornings (which I could maybe do even earlier), they have a routine, they do finally fall asleep which is something but both end up getting us up in the night to co- sleep. They both need people for comfort which I totally understand and is why I won't leave them to cry.

If they took an hour to fall asleep I'd feel like I'd one the lottery.

OH is kind of against trying as he fears it will be worse..... but he is out tonight....would I be unreasonable to move the 3 year olds bed in to the 6 year olds and give it a whirl?!!

Could sharing a room help or would they just be little nutters and still not sleep well?

Any help appreciated thanks

A) Parenting is often of the nothing ventured, nothing gained way of living.

B). Plenty of kids just do like sharing. Even grown up people. An administrator of a care home that was renovating said to me once she would always have a few double rooms because there were always a few people that preferred to share.

For us, it's a disaster.

Why not talk to the girls, and see what they think? If they are keen, try it, but tell them if it's a disaster, they will be back in their own rooms. See what happens!
It might be great. It might be awful. Only one way to find out!

When you say it takes over an hour to get the 6y.o. to sleep, what do you mean by that?

I read a story with mine, then we cuddle for a short while, then I leave - whether they're asleep or not. They fall asleep pretty soon after that if they havem't during the 5-10min cuddle time.

The only time they took ages was in a hotel room we shared recently as they were put to bed at 8pm and my teen and I stayed up longer than that (but were cooped up in the same room). WE were the distraction there.

We moved our almost 4yo in with her 6yo sister.
Prior to the move, the 3yo was in our bed every night.
After the move, I can count on 1 hand the times I've been disturbed in bed. It's been fantastic.
She's now 4, but has bed time first. Bath, story etc. Falls asleep no bother
Eldest goes up for a quick wash (or we bathe them at the same time, depends how challenged we feel for the day!) Then we read her a story in our room. Quietly go into their room and put rain sounds on. She falls asleep too. Been great for us since early June.

Our youngest was a minx, getting her to sleep seemed to take ages and she’d be awake early wanting to go and see her sister. At 2 1/2yrs we moved her in with her sister (5 1/2 yrs so the same 3yr age gap) and it was a dream!! She settled easily on her own straight away, with her big sister going up about 40mins later and normally not waking her. They’d both have a good nights sleep, no waking up in the night & play happily in the morning. They shared a room for nearly 3 years, then eldest wanted her own space so they’re now in their own rooms but play in each others rooms quite often.
I’d say go for it, you can always swap back next week if it doesn’t work out.
