To think this is weird as fuck? It’s a mystery!

Postwoman has just been. ASOS delivery to my address. ‘Oh fuck’ I think, ‘my return must have been rejected’.

Nope.

I have been sent a pack of three T-shirts 6 sizes too big for me. They are in ASOS packaging but come from M&S and say ‘Ciao’, ‘Bonjour’ and ‘Happiness’ on them.

No record of an order on the app so I haven’t accidentally done it in my sleep, nor have the kids accidentally done it. Customer service can’t/won’t tell me where they came from. I don’t have friends who are in the habit of sending me random stuff.

I just don’t understand!! Obviously my username is tongue in cheek, I’m assuming it’s probably an innocuous error but still, WTF?

Most likely human error and the wrong label has been stuck to it, however I do know someone who's credit card details were stollen and they first noticed it when a couple of parcels arrived that they hadn't ordered. Who ever stole their details seemed to have sent some things to the billing address by mistake. It's most likely fine, but I'd keep an eye on your accounts just in case

michalwave · 11/08/2023 14:55

Meh, it's just a mundane error. YABU for the 'weird as fuck? It’s a mystery!' clickbait title.

Pinkitydrinkity · 11/08/2023 14:56

I can’t see it being an admin error from ASOS if it’s got M&S t shirts in it?!

Unless someone else returned them to ASOS and they’ve mixed up thinking it was you? I don’t think they automatically send back mis-packaged items though - wasn’t there a story of someone accidentally posting back their own pants and ASOS wouldn’t send them back or something 😂

michalwave · 11/08/2023 15:01

ASOS have a Marks and Spencers marketplace:

SlashBeef · 11/08/2023 15:06

I would say enjoy your free tops but they sound like something grabbed in a heist from Bon Marche. Fingers crossed for a stalker with better taste next time!

talknomore · 11/08/2023 15:07

If you haven't been charged for them it may be human error.

mistermagpie · 11/08/2023 15:07

Im sure I read a post about this very thing the other week and people were saying it's some kind of scam.

My mum ordered an air fryer from Lakeland, which was due to be delivered via Etsi.

A few days later she was delivered a size 16 halterneck cami from BooHoo. She's 75 and definitely not a size 16!!!

Do you mean Evri?

ASOS packing sorry

I packed things on say George packaging for vinted and sell M+S items but you say you haven't ordered from vinted or depop alike?

Agreed. Multiple companies will use the same warehouses so it’s not terribly uncommon for product, packaging, and labels to get mixed up. I’ve had correct orders packaged in another company’s box, someone else’s order in my parcel, and someone else’s order addressed to me by mistake.

OP, you’ve got someone else’s order and a packaging mix up, so probably someone’s first day on the job or something. It happens.

EmptyTheFrickingBins · 11/08/2023 14:46

Could be a brushing scam too.

My first thought.

I've received all sorts through the post, boxer shorts, t-shirts, some random metal object and some serum from The Ordinary - bonus.

Moonshine86 · 11/08/2023 15:32

My husband had something similar from next. It turned out somebody took out a £2000 credit account. They have to send two minimum orders to an address of the occupant before orders can be dispatched to alternative addresses. Just be wary.

KeyWorker · 11/08/2023 15:34

Is it re-used ASOS packaging? It could be a Vinted (or similar) seller reusing old packaging to post their items and for the address wrong.

ladeluge · 11/08/2023 15:35

They will make lovely nightshirts for bed, or for painting, or.....

Use and enjoy. Forget the drama.

ShiteRider · 11/08/2023 15:40

I’ve had this before with Amazon, turns out DH had ordered something for work to be delivered to our address and it got saved so everytime his work ordered anything it came to us as they didn’t change the delivery details.

LeafHunter · 11/08/2023 15:43

If be assuming Vinted too - have you bought anything from there and the seller got it mixed up? Easy to do if you’re posting loads of stuff

I wasn’t that lucky. I received a text book from Amazon for a German bookkeeping qualification (all in German of course). I reported it to Amazon, couldn’t return it as they had no record of it being sent to me so had no order number to raise a return.

Rupiduti · 11/08/2023 15:45

It'll be a vinted error. I'm sending loads of clothes at the moment and many of the items are packed in the same packaging and the label gets printed in store so it does get confusing.

Autumnismyfavouritetime · 11/08/2023 15:46

Are the t-shirts brand new, still in their plastic bags and with labels? Sounds very much like a Vinted or Ebay parcel.

ManateeFair · 11/08/2023 15:48

PenelopeTheShroudWeaver · 11/08/2023 13:58

It's the ASOS packaging with M&S items in it that I find really strange

I can just about imagine how your details might have accidentally been swapped with another customer in the database, but the branding thing is very odd

Maybe they both have stock held in the same warehouse somewhere, or use the same contractor for packing and deliveries? But yes, it's certainly weird.

Lookingatthesunset · 11/08/2023 15:56

It's strange but sometimes weird things do happen with online orders. Not sure why ASOS can't explain it though. Keep an eye on your accounts for any unusual activity.

I once ordered a knife and was sent a 32FF bra... they kindly said I could keep it??? Another time I ordered a bin, and was sent a tray...!!

Adelstrop · 11/08/2023 15:57

I received a parcel from Next containing Nike branded clothes suitable for a slim adolescent boy (I am not, and never have been one). I don’t have a Next account and have never bought clothes from them. I assumed it was some kind of scam but had a great deal of difficulty returning them to Next. They kept insisting that they would have to refund me if I returned the items to them!
I never did get to the bottom of it.

I have accidentally sent NEXT things to a very old address and NEXT could not collect so kindly refunded me!

IamfeelingConfused · 11/08/2023 16:07

We get a lot of packages / deliveroos as we the first house on the street.
When we first moved in it took me a while to realise this was happening and at Christmas time I accidentally opened a package which was meant for my neighbour - it happened to be a very large jack hammer type vibrator. I pretended to her I hadn't opened the package to save her blushes.

M&S only use their own warehouses and distribution centres, so this will be from ASOS' end
