Too scared to go to hospital

I’ve had kidney stones on and off for years, I’ve had periods where I’ve not had any for a few years and times when I’ve had a few attacks a year. Since January I’ve been having them almost constantly and getting sick every few weeks.
Dh has gone mad and thinks we need to go to emergency as waiting for urologist appointments etc will take ages. I should hopefully get blood tests and x rays etc there, but I’m terrified to go, in case they tell me I have kidney failure or something. I’ve never been the type not to go to the doctors before of I needed to and have been in hospital for operations before and am generally quite tough when it comes to these things. I don’t know if it’s since I had my Dd, 5, I’m just feeling really scared in case it’s something really bad.
I had investigations before and no reason came up for me always having them, but it was a long time ago, scared some really damage has been done

I mean this gently but avoiding seeing a doctor isn't going to magically blink the damage out of existence. If there is damage then the earlier you know about it, the sooner you can get on a treatment plan and the more likely that treatment plan is to be successful.

Imagine not seeking help and it becoming a situation where irreparable damage has been done, you'd be wishing you'd seen a doctor sooner.

You honestly need to either see your gap or go to A&E the next time you have an attack. It could well be that your reluctance is causing more damage to your kidneys with each attack.
please don’t wait until something disastrous happens.

GP not gap

Better to go and be able to get some sort of treatment than bury your head in the sand and cause untreatable problems. I hope you get some answers/treatment soon. Flowers

Why would you suddenly assume the worst - there are so many treatable things they can do. Please do get yourself seen. If it is something serious - which is unlikely- it won’t stop it getting worse because you haven’t gone, quite the opposite.

I know, it’s stupid, I’ve just got this huge anxiety that they’re going to tell me my kidneys are failing or something

@Xrays Theyve never been able to get rid of them so far

Gentle hand hold. I get this, I avoid medical stuff too because I’m scared of bad news. It may not be logical but it’s totally human. But you know you do have to get it seen to, the longer you leave it the worse it generally is. Let them know that you’re a bit anxious, they are usually helpful. And you won’t go from being ok to having complete kidney failure - you’d know if you had, you’d feel terrible. You might have lower kidney function but it’s surprising how well the body can cope with that and if you get the right treatment you can often prevent any further damage. The main thing is you need to know what’s happening so you can try to address the causes of the attacks and get a plan in place. I hope you get on ok.

@PineappleMint Thank you 🙏so scared it has affected function and I have my Dd to care for

I get kidney stones a bit too but no cause as such and no damage but I’d rather go and get them dealt with AND if there is anything else going you it means you’re there and they can treat you. Not going means you’re risking your health by putting your head in the sand. I get it, it’s scary but likely you’ll be fine and feel better soon, if there is anything else going on you’re in the right place and it’s dealt with before getting worse. Hope you feel better op, ks are bloody horrible and I was off my feet for quite a while last time I had them.

@Shopper727 Its just absolute hell
all the time, how often do you get them? Have you had investigations and they just say no reason? What do you do when you get them?
