AIBU to be annoyed at these hives

So i've had the dreaded thrush for a while now on and off. Tried the creams the pessaries, but yesterday I took the tablet. But I've come up in hives all over my arms and legs and on my face. The ones over my eyes and on my cheeks are the most annoying/itchy. I've taken anti histamine but anyone any other cure? I'm going away on Sunday and really hoping they are gone by then. Pic of one on my foot and a few on my arm. Help!

Good thing is my thrush is 1000 times better which is a relief.

I thought this was going to be about bees.

Have you asked a pharmacist

Poppysmom22 · 10/08/2023 16:58

I thought this would be about bees.

Ceci03 · 10/08/2023 17:13

loislovesstewie · 10/08/2023 17:32

I thought it was about bees too! sorry, but I can only say anti -histamines and cream.

Maddy70 · 10/08/2023 17:40

You can take more antihistamines than it says in the packet. So I would take one every 4 hrs until it's gone down

Glad the thrush is better x

Nololono · 10/08/2023 18:04

I get hives ALL THE TIME, but mine are caused by stress rather than an allergy. I was advised by the doc to take 3 antihistamines a day, 2 x during the day (hydro something) and 1 piriton at bedtime - might work for you? Hope you get it sorted, it’s bloody horrible! X x

PimpMyFridge · 10/08/2023 18:06

I also thought this was going to be about your neighbour getting bees. 🐝
As you were.

YukoandHiro · 10/08/2023 18:10

These aren't hives. See a GP.

Strugglingtofindclothes · 10/08/2023 18:12

Yeah those aren't hives. You need medical attention. There is a condition Stevens something (I want to say Johnson) which is an allergic reaction to medications and it is a systemic and very serious reaction.

Strugglingtofindclothes · 10/08/2023 18:12

Google says Stevens Johnson's syndrome and it starts out looking like this. You need to seek medical attention today

painochocolate · 10/08/2023 18:14

Oh gosh OP I hope you're OK. Id phone an ambulance given the above posts

Strugglingtofindclothes · 10/08/2023 18:20

It might not be Stevens Johnson's if you've no other symptoms. I'm not medical I just retain information from Grey's Anatomy and Casualty for too long. This is why you shouldn't take advice from internet strangers, 100% know those are not hives though and medical attention is needed.

AlwaysFreezing · 10/08/2023 18:36

I don't like the look of those op. You need to see a doctor. Or at least a pharmacist, but I'd go with doctor.

thaegumathteth · 10/08/2023 18:37

They don't look puffy enough to be hives?

whatsinanameeh · 10/08/2023 18:53

I would see a pharmacist to confirm that's Allergy reaction as my ds gets a lot of skin reactions from allergy and it doesn't normally look so defined in patches

But everyone's different!

AffIt · 10/08/2023 18:57

Those don't look like hives, OP (and I suffer from a few allergic reactions / urticaria). I'd get that checked out if I was you, by a pharmacist in the first instance.

Do you live reasonably close to a big city centre where there might be a Boots open yet?

Yarnorama · 10/08/2023 19:01

Another 'that's not hives' to add to the chorus.

You need to seek medical advice.

Ceci03 · 10/08/2023 19:17

It's definitely not that syndrome as I have no flu like symptoms and they are very very itchy and go white when I press on the middle. And my lips and eyes are swollen and itchy like bad hayfever. I'll up the dose of anti histamines. I don't think you can overdose on them? Will try chemist tomorrow. Could try and find somewhere tonight maybe

OP posts:
Yarnorama · 10/08/2023 19:24

You need medical advice tonight. This is an unusual drug reaction and needs to be seen.

SpamIAm · 10/08/2023 19:33

You can definitely overdose on antihistamines. Of course the actual consequences will vary depending on the particular drug you're taking, but I certainly wouldn't be taking more than what the packet says based on the advice of someone on a forum.

Ceci03 · 10/08/2023 19:41

Hmm I just don't find the pharmacist usually says or does anything except wait and see and see a doctor if it gets worse. It is annoying me quite a lot tonight though. Took the flucanozole yesterday lunchtime. Leaflet
Says hives are a minor side effect

Hankunamatata · 10/08/2023 19:43

Fexofenidine - you can buy it in supermarket as Allevia. Best anti for hives

SoShallINever · 10/08/2023 19:49

You need to seek medical attention OP.

But you don't have hives.
