Hair extensions help!

Hi
has anyone ever had keratin bond (or any other type of hair extensions, excluding clip ins)

did you like it or did it end up destroying your hair? I’ve been considering it for a while because my hair is frizzy but thin and straggly looking but I’m scared it damages it too much!

Any experience would be really appreciated!

Hello. I have fine hair, prone to breakage. Never would go much below my shoulders.

I decided on slimline tape in extensions, as they were kinder to hair. Having them over 2 years did actually help my hair to grow, as I wasn't heat styling my own (wavy) hair often with extensions in.

Here's my before and after. Ignore the uneven colour, I couldn't get my colour done before extensions.

Tape ins have draw backs such as not being able to wear hair up easily. But on the plus side, if one came out, it was easy to refit it myself.

New set (3 packs) of 22" hair was £550. Then it was £75 every 6-8 weeks to remove and refit. My hair lasted 9 months before set being replaced.

I have had pretty much all kinds you can and while I always love them I initially, it’s the upkeep and maintenance that always have me regretting it after only like a week! I have paid $750 before for them to have them removed two weeks later. Try clip ins at first and see how you manage but you basically have to always have your hair washed properly, maintained in a specific way and they have to be fully styled to look good or else you can just tell they are fake. They are awful to wash and sleep in too. I gave up in the end and just grew my hair out but occasionally add a couple layers of clip ins to add extra length and volume but not by so much I need a full head

Bonds are my favourite type as you can type hair up and they look far more discreet. Had loads of weaves sewn or micro beaded in hated them but here they are cheapest option. Nano rings were too in your face at the root and micro nano was much the same , tape in were smooth but I found always stuck out at the root like a sore thumb and were obviously fake couldn’t tie hair up etc so my advice as somebody who’s worn extensions for 10 years every day is get bonds. My hair has never been damaged by these and there easiest to work with

I've had them all, sewed in, bonds and clips ins. This was at the height of the hair extension craze around 10 years ago. I have decent hair anyway but I'd definitely recommend them to anyone not happy with theirs. They didn't break or ruin my hair at all.

I’ve had a 24inch sewed in weave. I both loved and hated it but in the end the hate won and I removed them all at 2am with a pair of pliers!

When they were washed and styled my hair looked beautiful. However the washing and styling took hours and the matting was something else. I could constantly feel matted hair at the join and this is with brushing several times a day. I also slept in plaits and it didn’t help.
I was ripping out matts because I couldn’t stand knowing they were there. They were also very heavy, very itchy and the beads dug into my scalp at night. In the heat I couldn’t do normal tasks without sweating.

I really did love the way they looked but personally I just couldn’t cope with that level
of constant discomfort.

I've had bonded, nano bead & weaves, I prefer the nano bead as they look most natural.

I found bonded ones fell out too quickly, the nano beads stayed in better & I only lost one between appointments. If you want to look at hair, Beautyworks sell most kinds & have a good range of colours.

Hello,

I've had short hair most of my adult life and struggled to grow it. It's naturally very curly so I had to chemically straighten it then add the extensions.

I will list pros & cons below.

Pros:
Confidence
Length that I've always wanted
Could still it in many different ways

Cons:
Super expensive (£400-£700 plus you need refit every 8-12 weeks)
Process is lengthy
Chemically straightening my hair ruined it so much
The weight from all the extensions made my hair slightly thin
Washing & drying it felt like an Olympic sport 😂

I've had bonds, clip ins and the micro weave. All where great however would recommend the microweave.

I'd say try them once and go from there. But really do your research in to who is doing it for you as you don't want to be overcharged and left with cheap hair.

I wouldn't ever get them again as I dedicated years in getting my hair cut every 12 weeks and it's grew so much and got thicker thanks to an amazing stylist x
