Is this not for the window cleaner?

Prepared to be told IBU.
We have a window cleaner every month or so, he uses one of those telescopic/long poles for all of the windows - we have only used him since Jan and never had one before.

We have french doors downstairs which our 2 dogs use to go out into the back garden. Sometimes when they've waited to be let back in for longer than usual they scratch at the glass to make themselves known.

I've noticed every time the window cleaner comes and washes the windows the marks from the dogs are always left there. There are obviously some scratches there which I expect but the remnants of the dirt around them I can definitely clean up albeit with a bit more elbow grease involved than a quick swish of a telescopic pole.

I don't know if IWBU to bring this up with him?
Is it standard for a window cleaner to not clean something more ingrained other than a basic quick swish over the windows?

If the windows are not clean after his visit I am not really seeing the point of keeping him on unfortunately as I still have to go out to finish the job.

If they’re on the outside then yes the window cleaner should be cleaning off the dirt and dog slobber.

When I was a child window cleaners actually cleaned with ladders, a bucket and cloths. Now it seems that many of them just spray pressured water from a hose and aim roughly in the direction of the windows. We had one of those for a while, but after noticing the windows were not properly cleaned (marks left most of the time) we cancelled it. I also remember one time they arrived when it was raining fairly heavily, sprayed more water on already wet windows, and then came to ask for payment - while I appreciate they cannot just not work when it's wet outside, they also had literally spent about 5 minutes spraying some water on already wet windows and it felt strange to be paying them to do that. If I could find a proper window cleaner who cleaned the 'old fashioned' way then I'd happily pay them more to do it properly. Until then I'll do it myself.

Short answer, YANBU.

Are you sure the marks aren’t on the inside?

I don't think those poles get the windows as clean as doing them by hand, I was surprised at how noticeable the difference was when we switched. I'd be looking for a new window cleaner.

Our window cleaner wipes frames inside and out, as well as doing the glass. See if you can get someone new?

Definitely not on the inside no. As I said I end up doing them myself when he's gone. As I said it does need some elbow grease to get off and applying pressure not just brushing over with some water but I am thinking what is the point of a window cleaner if I have to go out and finish the job for him?
