AIBU to think that I can’t trust this ingredient list

So I bought Benefit (the makeup brand) toning foamer, I checked the ingredient list before I bought it as I react badly to Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and it wasn’t in the ingredients list.

Got home and double checked the website ingredients list and found that it said it had Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate…

I contacted Benefit head office to get my money back as I thought they were the same thing (double checked today and they arent but thats not my point)

I received a reply saying SLS is not listed on the website ingredients list

and they are right it isn’t….it was yesterday though, and I do have the photos to show that

so AIBU to not trust their ingredients list

And to clear things up slightly

i am more than happy not to have a refund as the thing that makes me react isn’t in there….deffo happy

but i am not happy that an ‘albeit benign’ ingredient has been removed from the website

not going any further with the company as quite rightly i am not due a refund and i do like their makeup

After buying it you double checked their website and it stated that the product you had just bought contained B, a similar sounding product (not an irritant but a mild foaming cleanser). You then asked for your money back, presumably because you didnt like the sound of B

not quite, after buying it I checked their website and thought (wrongly) that it had A in it and asked for my money back

now i know its a different thing (though to be fair they do sound awfully similar) I am more than happy with no refund

Maybe there are a few similar products….its more than possible that I have looked at the wrong thing

Maybe I'm missing it, but I can't see Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate on the first screen shot, only Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate?

Today’s ingredients list

If you look at the paragraph underneath the ingredients, they have a disclaimer that you should always go by the ingredients on the bottle as the ones on the website may be out of date. Likely your message to the company prompted someone in e-commerce to update the product listing, that's all 🤷‍♀️

Are you sure it's the same product? The formulations look entirely different going by the ingredients lists.

Tippexy · 09/08/2023 16:38

OP, you can keep digging but you are 100% in the wrong.

Are you certain its not the cleanser you were looking at yesterday? The photos arent the same, and there a facial brush thingy in it, would you use that with a toner? (im dont really do products so maybe you would?)

Auntieobem · 09/08/2023 16:46

The pics you've attached are for 2 different products? One's a cleanser and one is a toner?

It literally says at the bottom of both screen shots that the website ingredients may be out of date and to check the packaging......

RufustheFactualReindeer · 09/08/2023 17:51

Yes it does 😩
