To be annoyed with MIL flaking on lunch

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and I guess I'm finding lots of things are irritating me right now. So tell me what you think.

My husband was gone all day today golfing. From before we woke up until 3pm (I'm annoyed with him too but that's a separate post lol).

My FIL golfed with him (it was a tournament) so I invited her over to hang out in the garden and eat lunch with me and our two kids so that we could keep one another company while the men were gone. She accepted.

I said 'come over whenever as we will be home all day'.

It's almost 1pm and she texts saying she isn't coming. I already made food for her!

AIBU to think this is really rude. It was meant to be just a casual thing, but she still accepted my invitation.

She invited us over for dinner but I declined as I'm annoyed with her and anyway, I already had food out.

Is there more to this, like the weather? There's been a massive storm here all day so I wouldn't want to hang out in the garden with you.

I live in the US. Weather has been beautiful here. About 25°C and sunny

Did she know she was coming for lunch? Or was it just a "hey, while they're playing golf why don't you come to ours? I'm around all day, so whenever is fine!"?

'Do you want to come over on Saturday to eat lunch and hang out in the yard with the splash pad? I know it's not very exciting 😂'

Those were my exact words.

'Sure, I'm sure I would enjoy that'

Ooh. On the one hand I could see how she could have seen that as a loose invitation to hang out while she eats lunch.
On the other, I totally see that you're inviting her to have lunch with you.
Either way, it's so ambiguous I'd honestly just let it slide.

Very rude. She accepted and then let you down.

It isnt ambiguous at all.

"Do you want to come over on Saturday and eat lunch" - what is ambiguous about that??

Just because she hasnt said a specific time, doesnt mean it isnt clear. Every knows lunch is around midday to 2ish.
