Can you cry heavily without making any noise?

Curious about this. I assume everyone can do this, have a full on chest-heaving sobbing session where you feel like you might turn inside out with grief or sorrow, but be absolutely silent. Then I realise I'm basing this on nothing but myself Grin so I actually have no idea if other people do cry that way?

I'm a really private person so that's why, and have always been like this since childhood. Incidentally and rather bizarrely I have cried on the tube and been ok with it because they're all strangers, but I absolutely hate crying in front of anyone I know.

How about you?

I mean, some of my friends cry in front of me and allow me to comfort them but I always assume they can do the quiet private crying thing as well if they prefer.

Yes, in fact it's how I usually cry. Vocalising seems unnatural.

Yes.

Yes, totally.

No I don't think so. I can cry without "crying" noises, but I'd assume my breathing would sound different, and I'd probably be sniffing if I had a lot of tears.
