Christmas Party in February?

So for the last two years my team has done the Christmas party in February and want to do it again this(/next) year.

The reason being everyone is busy in December and we get more for our money.

Aibu to think this idea is shit. They do it on a weeknight anyway (usually a Thursday) so I’m sure there’s one Thursday in December people are free. And it’s not a Christmas party after Christmas - plus I wouldn’t say you get that much more for your money and the company give us a budget of £75 each anyway so the majority isn’t coming out our own pockets anyway

I would love this! Where I work all the Christmas
parties and events have to be crammed into first 2 weeks of December because people go on leave after than so that’s only leaves 5th, 6th, 7th and 12th, 13th and 14th this year if you ignore Mondays and Fridays (because you don’t want a work party hangover at the weekend!). Fitting in company, department, client,
project, team events in a handful of days is hard! (And tiring). Spreading out into January / Feb would be much nicer and enjoyable!

We used to do this. Well November or January. But we worked in hospitality so no chance of time off in December for everyone.
We always did crackers, secret Santa etc

I went to one at the end of January, that was bad enough. And the veggie option was macaroni cheese, so I wouldn't say it was a Christmas party at all.

Omg I'd love this! Fabulous idea. December I am busy, and prioritise my family and real friends. Shitty February meanwhile I would welcome a party with colleagues.

Side note on the secondary iabu that's been unearthed- OF COURSE February is the shittest month. January has new years, the children are still home for the start of it, a bank holiday, burns night, santes dwynwen (only for the Welsh I guess) and staying at home is a respite from December madness. (I keep my decs up til the 6th as do all my neighbors. ) February is just awful and it's only redeeming feature its shortness (which you don't notice because it lasts forever anyway)
