We've had the joie spin 360 car seat for over half a year now. Aibu to think it's really not that good- in terms of posture- my little one seems to be hunched in it?

We got a much cheaper 360 spin car seat abroad, where we stay a couple of months each year. We left the car seat there. In comparison, it's much better in terms of how comfortable he looks in it. He stays in it longer, too. And his back seems straight. Sadly they don't sell it in the UK.

One of the most popular car seats, expensive in comparison to others, but I just don't see it as a good one.

What are your experiences?
Any good car seat recommendations for good posture that keeps their back straight? Btw we have definitely fitted it correctly so it's not even a positioning issue.

I have one and it seems OK to me - is it the leg room issue that you are finding? That is a problem with this seat although children don't usually seem to find it a problem. We used to take DS2's shoes off in the car.

Hunched up sounds like you have the headrest set too low perhaps? Or do you have the inserts in for 78467 months like they all say on the FB groups? They can be taken out from around 18 months usually.

YANBU. We hated it. My daughter hated it. If she fell asleep in the car it was my older ones job to keep propping her head back. Thankfully it was only a secondary car seat but we bought a britax 2 way elite to replace it and the difference was incredible and became our primary seat! My daughter was happy in the car finally and looked so much more comfortable. She's still in it at 5 x

We have cybex car seats for our 2 and 5 year Olds and they seem comfortable

It was brilliant for my twins. If it's an ispin 360 you can make them sit more straight, there's a thing to adjust the angle down the bottom on the right. Loved it, great piece of kit

If you had a cheap car seat abroad it's probably a generic and there is likely a brand that sells the same seat here in the UK, I could see if I can identify it if you know the make and model.

Alternatively you could go to a car seat shop and try different models out? I know that Besafe have won awards for the back support in their car seats, they are pricey though.

Just found this pic and thought of your thread - this is DS3 age 14 months - his back looks straight to me, perhaps the picture is useful in working out whether you need to make any adjustments.

OTOH I think it can be a bit tricky to get a good fit in if you're new to the seat - this is DS2 at age 11 months (white top) and then 20 months, in hindsight he really did need the insert in for longer.

In the 11 month picture he had sat forwards when I strapped him in and as the pads are grippy they kind of end up pinning the shoulders forwards. So when he fell asleep he looked uncomfortable as his head tilted back.

In the 20 month picture his head looks pushed forwards and there is too much space between him and the belts. The insert behind him would have levelled the seat out and made a difference.

DS3 was fine without inserts at 14 months - it must depend on their build.

Last one - DS3 at 11 months with inserts. We must have taken them out at some point over the next 3 months.

Thank you all so much for these responses. I've only just got round to reading but it's been super helpful!

The one we use abroad is Kidwell Orbit 360. There's one selling at The Range online, that looks really similar, but haven't figured out yet if it's the same

Like @BertieBotts we've used this seat for 3 children and never had an issue. I'd definitely look at adjusting inserts, tilt and strap positioning/tightness.

Btw @BertieBotts your DC are beautiful 😍. Love a little redhead!

Wenfy · 14/08/2023 22:36

DS is a tall 3 year old (99th centile) and isn’t hunching in it. Are you sure you’ve adjusted it properly?

fedupnow2 · 14/08/2023 22:40

How adorable are your kids @BertieBotts !

BertieBotts · 15/08/2023 17:02

The one at the Range does look very much the same as the Kidwell Orbit. It's likely to be the same model. The way you check is whether it has the same ECE approval number on the orange sticker.

Oh and thank you fedup and Ken! I think so but I am biased :D 🧡

Avonaut sky and the Axkid Minikid are fairly robust though don't offer the 360 spin
