Have you had tattoo 'removal' and how were the results?

Have you had a tattoo 'removed' and if so, were the results ok, and how much did it cost you all told?

I have a smallish tattoo approx 3 or 4cm squared, on my chest.

I've seen a lot of people who were still left with a pale shape of the tattoo where it was.

Did you have that or did it successfully disappear completely?

If you're left with a 'ghost' do you still feel it was worth doing?

Do you want it removed to skin or enough for a coverup? DH had one faded (two session) before he had a cover up done. He said it was worse pain than his worst tattoo

@sleepyscientist I'll try and resist having another one over it, as it's just above my cleavage if I enhance that. So it might draw attention away from/mar the look of the cleavage. Grin

My exdp had a black tattoo that covered his whole upper arm and across his shoulder, think black like an ink stain that had run down his arm with pointy bits at the bottom, he had laser treatment and they got rid of the majority of it but he was very poorly after each session, it was really painful and his arm swelled up so much that his t-shirts didn't fit him.
A little tattoo shouldn't be too hard to get rid of but do some serious research first, don't just let anyone do it.
They need proper training

Bad photo but to give you an idea. This is what it look like with the chicken fillets etc in. Grin

It's actually a yellowy-purple flower but it looks quite black there.

Usually I'm not this fat lol.

Ooh what I will say is that will be very painful to remove! Mine was on my upper arm and I had to get my friend to drive me home afterwards. 😫

porridgeisbae · 06/08/2023 20:28

@Ilikewinter Doesn't sound good. Sad Did you stick with it through several sessions?

I think I might decide against this. Grin

I have other tattoos so if a bloke doesn't like tattoos, he won't be that keen anyway.

If it was free/cheap I'd do it. But it ain't. Grin

My partner is in the process of getting his removed, he says it is incredibly painful but he is keeping going with it so I guess it must be worth it, though not much improvement yet with 3 sessions.

This is what it looked like after his last session, blistered horribly and his arm swelled up

@Natsku WOW! Shock

@Natsku that looks unbelievably painful!! I would be worried that those blisters and all the skin damage would make the area very susceptible to skin cancel, did they mention this?

Dingbats876 · 06/08/2023 21:00

I’ve had all mine removed. It hurts more than you can possibly imagine! They advise waiting a few weeks between treatments but I’d agree with a PP that leaving it 6 months between is optimal as it continues to fade for that time.

The first one I had removed has left a white ‘scar’. Not really a scar but you can just about see it in certain lights. The others have disappeared totally.

Getting them removed also cost a shitload more than having them put on!

I don't know if they mentioned that, will have to ask him (and remind him to be extra vigilant with suncream and covering up)
It didn't blister like that the first two times so perhaps he was just very unlucky that time

I spoke to a tattoo artist about removal but decided on a cover-up instead on their advice. I’m really pleased with it but it was on my hip so it’s not on display all the time. Not sure what I’d have done if it was a chest one. Tattooist said cover up would be much less painful. (Sounds like they were right from pps’ experiences!)

I had a small tattoo done for a fiver nearly 30 years ago. It was on my shoulder. All black ink. Got it removed about 15 years ago - took 10 sessions at £60 each. There's a tiny mark left which I've been told would be easy to remove. If you didn't know I'd had a tattoo there you wouldn't notice it. Removal was a million times more painful than getting the original tattoo!

Tattoo removal experiences can indeed vary. Some individuals have had successful results with q-switch Nd-YAG laser tattoo removal, while others may still have a faint outline or "ghost" of the tattoo remaining. The effectiveness often depends on factors like the tattoo's size, color, and type of ink used. The cost of tattoo removal can also differ based on various factors, including the location of the clinic and the number of sessions required.
For those considering tattoo removal, it's essential to research and choose a reputable clinic that uses advanced technology like the q switch nd yag laser tattoo removal for the best possible results. Additionally, the decision to remove a tattoo can be influenced by personal reasons, such as changing tastes or wanting a fresh start.

I had one removed from my foot a few years ago, definitely worth it.
Had about 10 sessions, stings after each one.
Cost about £45 a session.
