to want glasses that fit!

Any opticians/optometrists/people in the know able to help?
If a retrospective tilt is needed in order for the glasses to not touch cheeks, can the actual lenses be made up differently to compensate for the tilt? Glasses made up normally which have been tilted after create distorted vision - but if the tilt is done first can the lens itself be made differently?

Are you wearing the ones with or without nose pads or whatever are the nose little legs thingies called? Wearing ones with it was the only way for me not to have frames touching my cheecks

Without nose pads. I can’t stand the pokey little beasts!

Well basically the answer is yes, adjustment to the prescription/fitting heights etc can be made for pantascopic tilt.

You do need to go somewhere that actually has a proper qualified dispensing optician who is capable of doing it though.

I don’t know if you have varifocals or single vision, but some of the more expensive varifocals have these measurements factored in as standard (or should do). Some opticians have a machine you stand and look at to take additional measurements.

I would say there’s usually far less tilt adjustment on a plastic frame with no nosepads, but obviously you’ve had a problem.

You need somewhere where they use the actual frame you try on and adjust to put the lenses in - most high street chains do not do this and the frames you try on stay on the shelves and yours is a new one from the stocks at the lab that makes the glasses.

I would advise you research the independent opticians in your area and go to one who deals with all the good quality lenses (esp Zeiss and Essilor) and has a qualified dispensing optician.

Thank you. They’re single vision lenses. Tilting the frames out would hopefully just take them away from my cheeks a little.
I will look into independent opticians near me.

Usually if they’re touching your cheeks they’re the wrong frame for you. Either get some that are not as deep, or the bridge needs to be narrower to make them sit up higher on your nose. Plastic frames are not very adjustable- to a large extent they either fit or they don’t. Metal ones are very easy to adjust though.

I have similar problems. I’m very limited on my frame as I have really high cheekbones/pudgy cheeks and a small nose. -10 prescription so thick lenses even with thinning. I have to go for rectangular or oval type shallow frames . They do keep telling me to get frames with nose pads but they always rub my nose red raw.
