Somehow ended up in a dark hole, there are pages and pages of celebrities being rated on their looks. Anyone from Kate Middleton to Katy Perry, Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, anyone well-known.
They're all given a mark out of 10, and are heavily scrutinised on their looks. Candice Swanepoel cannot be a 10 because her nose is a bit too wide and hooked apparently, Margot Robbie's mouth is too large, Natalie Portman has 'lost her looks' now at 42 and aged really badly.
Anyone over 30 is 'past their prime' (literally) , they frequently say stuff like 'Candice in her prime was beautiful '.
This is both men and women rating.
I mean it's not surprising that stuff like this exists, but it's just sad. It really shows the ageism we experience and the double standards. There are pages about male celebrities too, but they're not considered 'past their best ' over 30.

this is why i don't support/read Reddit. full of incels.

It’s not ‘full’ of incels. That’s a ridiculous thing to say.

I agree that sounds horrid. But I’m a regular Reddit user and have never come across these threads. In fact I find that the areas I frequent on Reddit can be more kind and considered than their mumsnet equivalents.

100% agree, I’ve seen more kindness there too, more rounded opinions instead of the incredibly boring ‘all men are shits, what on earth did you expect?’.

Agree. The judgement about female celebrities on here aren’t much better than what I’ve come across on Reddit and haven’t seen what OP has mentioned either.

I wouldn’t say Reddit is particularly worse than Twitter or MN for example. There’s idiots but that’s to be expected on every platform. I use reddit regularly and there’s plenty of warm communities, the legal subs over there are particularly excellent and informative.

Definitely, I love Reddit. A parenting sub was a lifesaver for me a couple years ago when I had a baby who wouldn't sleep. The advice was far better than any I got on mumsnet. I also find it brilliant for financial advice subs. My city has its own active sub for local news and advice too.

Reddit is just a microcosm of society.

Yeah there are sections of it that are unpleasant, but there are in real life too.

I tend to browse r/all, which is basically the most upvoted posts across every single subreddit, and you see very little unpleasant stuff. The most trafficked areas of Reddit, tend to be very left leaning, progressive, and you're likely to get downvoted to oblivion for taking the piss out of someone's appearance, or disability etc.

Yeah, there are subreddits where you'd probably not have a nice time, but that's true of the real world too. We can all think of a pub that we've walked into and gone "You know what, not for me"
