Go with your gut?

That’s the advice I’m getting but the point is my gut doesn’t know.

I worked for a local authority for three years but changed roles four times (consistent type of work, mostly one department, upwards career progression).

The culture became increasingly toxic so I left for higher education (same type of work but slightly lower pay)

An opportunity has come up in the local authority and the hiring manager (a less toxic department) is keen on me. I’m currently a bit bored and tempted by improved pay and benefits but scared I might be biting off more than I can chew.

It will also be less than six months since I started my current role which is a permanent position and the new role is 12 months fixed term.

So would I be reasonable to quit for a better job even though that better job might turn out to be a crock of shit?

Reasonable to move = better pay/benefits, busier, wfh, meaningful but risk of bullying culture

Unreasonable to stay put = average pay/benefits, dull, pleasant culture but lack of interest and tbh they’re almost too friendly and like us in the office three days a week

Help me decide please!

Thanks. So far every choice I’ve made has been jumping out of the frying pan into the fire (but with more cash each time except last time). So it looks like with more money comes more arseholes 😅
