I just locked myself out the house

Took the bins out and the gate locked behind me and our front door was on latch. Have a 3m old and 4-year-old inside. I absolutely sh** myself. Climbed in through the top window much to my neighbours amusement. Feel like a total bellend! Please tell me I'm not the only one who's done this.

No but probably only be luck. BF couldn't find his keys very late one winter's snowy night. Eventually found it had slipped into the coat liner. Now I make sure I have keys actually on my person. Don't even shut the car door if they aren't in my hand.

Can you get one of those key safes and leave a spare in there, to give you peace of mind? You must have been so frightened at the time.

When I did I got a keysafe set up next day. Been a godsend.

I was looking after my 3yo nephew years ago and I took the rubbish out and the front door slammed behind me.
I can still remember the feeling of my whole body going cold…at the time my DB and SIL didn’t live in a very nice area at all so there wasn’t anyone I could ask to help. (I was also a very shy 17yo)
I tried calling him through the letterbox to open the door but he didn’t hear/ignored me.
It must have been pure adrenaline but I ran at the door and hit it with all my weight on my shoulder and the door flung open.
My nephew was oblivious to the panic/pain I was in and carried on playing…..
I didn’t dare tell my DB and SIL when they got home and sheepishly denied all knowledge of knowing why the front door door frame was broken and blamed it on their ‘dodgy neighbours’ 🤐

My mother was always having to climb into windows (sometimes after breaking them) after forgetting keys... 🤣 I haven't had to do that (yet), however I did once lock myself out of my old flat when emptying the bin during an epic spring cleaning mission. I was in very comfy old pyjamas (complete with holes), had greasy hair that I'd scraped up, looked a right old state (figured I'd have a lovely shower once cleaning was finished!) and had to walk across to the wine bar where my flatmate at the time was working and wait at the bar for him to find his key. Oh, the embarrassment!

We have a key safe. Installed after I had to (a) organise one for an elderly neighbour and (b) teenager developed an infinite capacity for losing door keys. It is excellent. Totally recommend
