To just get rid of my wedding dress?

There seems to be a weirdness around people keeping wedding dresses and what you’re supposed to do with it. My dress was bought online so not stupidly expensive. We had a very wet day for our wedding so it’s filthy.
I don’t want to get it cleaned as it’s so expensive and what’s the point anyway?
I would love to donate it but they only accept clean dresses from what I have seen.
any good ideas on what to do with it that won’t cost me any more money but may be of use to someone somewhere possibly?

I'd risk machine washing it on a very gentle wash and see what happens, if it shreds bin it, if not charity shop, or dye it for Halloween if the style suits?

My mum used to work in a wedding dress shop.

They offered a specialist clean for dresses after they had been worn.

.... but my Mum said they used to just put it on a hand wash cycle in the washing machine!

So you could try that and then donate it?

^ snap!

Mine hangs on a posh hanger on the top picture rail on our bedroom! Previous wedding dress went in a bin bag to charity! I paid 2k for it! 😫

I gave mine to the local charity shop after about 4 years . Hopefully someone else enjoyed their wedding in it.
We’ve been married over 25 years.

Mine got muddy. I left it for about 6 months as it was winter . Then just washed it in the bath and hung it outside on a sunny day. Clean

Same did it with mine as I got it on clearance!

Depend what material it is, but I would dunk the bottom half where the worst dirt is, in the bath with warm water and bio washing powder, get as much out as you can (gently) then wash it inside out and in a white pillow case in the machine on a hand wash cycle. No fabric softener.
Hang it on the line in bright sunlight to dry.

I tried to wash it at the time and tried again last year and it’s not budged at all :(

Ace gentle bleach? My go to for all stains.

If you’ve tried to wash it and it’s stained, I’m not sure who you think would benefit from it?

Charity shop rag bag ?

Or chop the dirty bottom bits off and dressing up for kids ?

I donated my beautiful (and very expensive!) wedding dress to a seamstress who worked in partnership with a charity who made special gowns for stillborn babies.

It wasn't filthy but the bottom was a bit dirty and I hadn't had it dry cleaned. I gave it a scrub with the usual stuff and it came up quite well.

I couldn't have thought of a better cause and hope that some little angels benefitted from this and their parents gained some comfort from it too.
