To post because I'm 6 years cancer free...

Hi!

Today, I am 6 years free from pancreatic cancer. I was 28 when I was diagnosed and had a Whipple procedure on this day 6 years ago to remove a stage 3 tumour. I also had 22 chemotherapy treatments.

Early detection is key - always push if you don't feel right - you know your own body best.

❤️❤️❤️

Do you mind if I ask what the symptoms are for PC . I've heard it is often diagnosed late because people think their symptoms are other things eg gut problems

Of course!

Greasy, oily smelly stools
Heartburn
Loss of appetite
Weight loss
Nausea/vomiting
Indigestion
Bloating
Yellow whites of eyes, itchy skin and dark urine - all signs of jaundice
Pain at the top of the abdomen or back, usually around where your bra strap would sit
Pain that eases when you lean forward

My diagnosis process was slightly different as I'm a bit of a freak case but I ultimately went jaundiced which led to my diagnosis.

Gosh that's many symptoms that people could get one or more of for many other conditions. No wonder people are diagnosed late , frightening.

I know! I just 'knew' and was actually dismissed and laughed at a lot. The weight loss was rapid x

Congratulations op! ❤️
found out this morning that my mum is now free of breast cancer and I’m so so happy

I’m not sure if you’re still in the tread @Amybelle88 but that’s such great news, my husband just had 3 weeks in hospital following operation for PC and also spleen removal. He got told he’ll have chemo and he’s very worried that it will not work. Your news has given me great hope. I wish he can talk to you or other survivors for reassurance. Do you know if there are any such support groups? Xx
