to ask, when to go and see the docs, before holiday or after

So, a few weeks ago I discovered a tiny (just a bit smaller than a pimple) sized shiny bit of skin on my chest. I am normally very vigilant about sun safety (living overseas for years and spending summers overseas I saw some horrendous sun burn cases that made me a bit OTT about sun safety). However that weekend I did manage to get a small very minor sunburn, just slightly red. Treated with aloe and kept covered up.
At that point I thought it may some kind of blister or damage from the sun so I gave it time to heal, but it is still there, so I am considering getting it checked out. The only thing is I am away to visit my family next week for a week and a half and I am scared that if I go now, I'll be told I cant go. Its been a horrendously stressful year with other life things going on and I need this break, for the sake of my own mental health I need to just get away. Part of me thinks that by seeing the GP it will just be a referral and so Id be waiting for a few weeks at least for that anyway so at least if I get the ball rolling beforehand then I can deal with the rest when I get back, but then if its something that is generally dealt with quicker, then I cant really say "sorry can it wait, I am on holiday" can I?
So, do I wait until I get back?

Go and see a pharmacist first. No need for a GP if you are otherwise well.

Do you normally worry about your health OP?

I am saying this as someone who does have health anxiety - I don't think I'd even notice a less than pimple sized shiny bit of skin on my chest.

What makes you think you wouldn't be able to go on holiday? I'm sure if you went to the doctors about this and they were in any way concerned they would refer you to someone but that would probably be a matter of weeks.

Go on your holiday and relax x

the only thing to be mindful of is travel insurance if you are going abroad, there's always a question about being under investigation for something. If you said no then needed treatment for it you presumably wouldn't be covered.

@whatabeautifulwedding Ive always been a bit sensitive about my healthm but I do think it's getting worse as I lost my brother suddenly this year and it has affected me, as whilst Ive lost many relatives (sadly) I have never lost anyone suddenly and I do think that is having an impact on my own anxieties about my own health.

So sorry to hear this. Something like that must be a terrible shock.

I think you'll be fine to wait until you get back. Sometimes skin does funny things for a while an d then clears up. I get patches of psoriasis that stay for 6 months and then suddenly disappear without me having done anything different.
