Applying for a new job at same company but 22 weeks pregnant

I'm pregnant and my dream job has arisen at my current company. Only worked for them for 6 months though :/ don't like my current job.

AIBU to think they would offer me an interview knowing I'm due for maternity leave soon!

A) Changing roles at the same company won’t affect your eligibility for SMP but the reduction in pay May depending on when your qualifying week falls.

B) Personally having had two hard pregnancies I just couldn’t be arsed with applying for new roles and then learning whilst about to go on leave.

If they’d let you start after Mat leave that would be brilliant. Could you ask that if you’re successful?

It would be in 16 months and they would need someone now :(

I'm hoping no one else applies haha

Thanks. I really don't enjoy my current role either :(

Continuous employment is with the same employer; your role/job title is irrelevant, you would be continuously employed by the same employer.

However, for SMP generally, "To satisfy the continuous employment rule you must have been employed by your employer for a continuous period of at least 26 weeks into the qualifying week.
The qualifying week is the 15th week before the week in which the baby is due."
I think from the info given in the opening post, you do meet these criteria, but only just - you know with more detail of start dates, due dates, etc.

Also, if your employer offers enhanced MAT pay, check their policy for your entitlement to that.
If the other role pays less, depending on the date you start the new role, if offered, it may make your Mat leave cheaper for them.

@Flounder2022 did they get someone else to do your job for a year?

Yes, the person who came 2nd to me in the interview process. I'm not int he UK so can't speak to to system there in terms of statutory pay etc but just wanted to give my experience of interviewing while pregnant. Go for it!!
