Know how people love a good prams on buses thread!
I have just returned from visiting a dear friend who has just gotten out of hospital. I took the bus to visit her, along with my 4 month DD and her pram. Usually I would babywear her, but as I was bringing food & supplies for friend, thought taking the pram was easier on this occasion. As I got on the bus, DD was a bit unsettled, so I BF her and she was happy then for the remainder of the journey. There were no other prams on the bus, nor wheelchairs, & there were several free priority seats. Towards the very end of the trip, DD started to become grouchy again, so before she started to cry, I popped her in her sling as this is the easiest way to calm her down for a nap. In my distraction of trying to calm her down, I didn't move to the door of the bus quick enough when it came to my stop. This meant another man with a pram started to get onto the bus before I could get off. No worries though, we called to the driver to wait a moment while we did some pram re-arranging so that other man with a pram could take my original spot, and I could squeeze past to get off. As I got off, some crabby woman loudly stated "Oh for goodness sake, thank god that's over. Some of us have places to be!" 🤔 which just felt awfully necessary for what was at most, a 20 second delay. (She had also made similar comments towards another woman who took slightly longer than normal to buy her bus ticket!)
WIBU to call her a grumpy cow? I did not do this, as I would never confront someone like that, but the desire was there 😉
Plus side, the journey home was very pleasant. There were myself & 2 other older ladies on the bus who had shopping trolleys with them, we all managed to amicably manoeuvre ourselves so there was room for pram + trollies + enough space for others to get past us. DD enjoyed the attention from them interacting with her (she is premature so doesn't play with toys/reach for things yet, but very much enjoys making faces, funny noises etc)
