I know I’ve posted in aibu….and changed my username, but I just need to know if there is anything out there that actually works??
DS 18, has stretch marks and they are still getting worse. DH and I both had them, but surely there must be something out there that helps prevent and treat them? I’ve had him on bio oil and palmers for the past 4 years and yet they still keep on appearing.
I there anything that will work??
AIBU - there is nothing that works
UANBU - try this it’s amazing!

Why does he have stretch marks? If it's because he's growing taller rapidly, there's nothing that can be done about it. It could be associated with connective tissue diseases like hEDS/EDS, but that's about more than just physical appearance. If he's rapidly putting on muscle due to bodybuilding, he either stops or he accepts them. And if he's obese and getting larger all the time, then there's the health aspect more than the cosmetic side.

My son who is now 19 grew so fast he is covered in them on his back. And sorry nothing works. His skin is indented. He really doesn’t seem bothered by them.

We're a family of stretch marks too. Not from being overweight but just from rapid growth in puberty and of course pregnancy for me. I think we all had them by 11 years old.
We've tried bio oil, palmers coco butter and about 10000 other creams and lotions. Nothing works except time. They eventually disappear in to silvery nothings. I think I'm left with 1 above my belly button from 10 years ago.

Ds used bio oil after spinal surgery, the scar faded quicker than expected but it's not a fast result.

Hi @StretchMarkReduction if possible, could he try not putting any creams on his skin, try it for a month, hoping this might work for your son

He’s not a bodybuilder, he’s not overweight, he’s growing but not excessively. He’s just genetically prone to getting them, his dad and I are the same. Ours are just silver slithers too and his will be too over time. It would just be nice to help him reach that stage sooner and hopefully stop more in their tracks. When they are on your legs, hips, arms, chest and stomach it isn’t easy just to ignore them as much as it would seem logical to do so. @Summer2424 the skin needs to be kept hydrated and moist to prevent more.

The stretching comes from underneath where creams and oils cannot penetrate.

His skin just isn't as stretchy as other people's from the dermis and there's nothing you can do about it, then.

Ok @NeverDropYourMooncup so he can’t prevent them - any suggestions on how to help them fade quicker?

They're scars - just time.

Maybe speak to a aesthetics clinic - laser?
