To think that MNHQ should email people to explain why they are deleting their posts

One of my posts has been deleted without explanation. There was a "link" (which didn't actually work!) to the talk guidelines. I have looked at these and cannot see which of them I have supposedly broken.

I have seen so many horribly sexist, racist, homophobic, ageist, ablist comments on here over the years, which have been allowed to stand despite very clearly breaking the talk guidelines.

AIBU to think that MNHQ should not simply link to the guidelines when deciding to cancel posts, but that they should email the poster to explain which of the talk guidelines they have broken? How am I supposed to avoid breaking the guidelines in the future if I don't know what I am supposed to have done wrong?

MNHQ always say to contact them via email in situations like this, and they'll explain to you.

So don't ask us, ask them !

Email NMHQ and just ask.

do they answer?
I had one deleted some time ago.
with link to guidelines.
No way I could see that I had broken any of the rules.
I just reckoned some behind the scenes gameplayer (you get a lot of such sad creatures online) had mailed them with some personal objection to my - to my mind - fair question and HQ had just clicked a button without any thought. Yep I do think they should give some basic reason to avoid gameplaying.

You wouldn't know if your post has been deleted unless you go back over every thread you've commented on!

yep - quite - that's particularly odd - very sub 1984 - you just get disappeared without even knowing it.

My post was hidden and I didn’t know why.

I emailed mnhq and they were fast with their response and explanation. Turns out “g#mmies“ triggers auto hide.

MN does far better in moderation and enforcing the premise/rules of the site than many other forums.

That's not the point here.

When you do email them they are really slow to respond, taking many days to even get back to you.

Hi MNHQ that is sadly not true.
