to find it questionable that a 4 yr old is greeted with the words 'Hello, sexy!'??

my sister's friend greeted her 4 yr old DS in this way when he came into kitchen from playing with others upstairs. I thought it was tasteless. Turns out this mother looks on DS as a real 'mummy's little man'. Am I the only one to find this weird? Or is this normal? (I only have girls myself.... but would go mad if DH addressed them in similar fashion)

Joan, I agree. Also makes me twitch when I see small girls in trousers with "Juicy" written on the bum.

Agree that it is inapropriate. Though 'sexy' is increasingly being used to describe inanimate objects, meaning 'attractive' rather than anything actually sexual eg 'a sexy ipod'. Still inappropriate to use it with regard to a child, though.

flood away

it's still common

People use the word 'sexy' to describe all kinds of things these days - eg cars/films/curtains!!! Don't like it myself.

Someone said this to my 21 month old the other day- hello, sexy boy!!!- I did find it a bit wierd

Emprexia · 26/02/2008 19:28

I say it to my son.. but only at home, and usually after he's stripped off his trousers and running around with his 'sexy legs' out

I don't think i'd say it in public though.

If someone said, "Hello sexy," to my child, I think I'd have to ask them what they meant? If he was sexy to them.

I reckon people should really think about what they say to and about kids.
