I’ve had Covid twice within a year unfortunately, both times in bed, and this, in addition to two other viral absences has meant I hit the absence trigger at work. I work in education. Can’t work remotely from home if unwell.
My manager has had an initial meeting with me about my absence where they just said they’d send a letter out saying x,y and z.
a week later I’ve got an invitation to a review, which wasn’t discussed at the above meeting as an X, Y or Z. I declined it as surely I would know about this being an outcome.
long story short, we’ve subsequently had a brief ‘catch up chat’ which they’ve now put in writing as an ‘outcome meeting’ They also challenged me about why I declined the meeting which I explained and stated that policies are for employees too (not just for managers to bash their staff with).
they haven’t been transparent at all about the policy and how it’s been administered to me. Either in person or in writing.
It’s a really one sided letter (you aren’t engaging with the policy kind of vibe) whilst also being outrageously outside of the policy in and of itself in how they’ve dealt with me.
I don’t want to go down the grievance route, but aibu to need this to be looked at?
I can email them back but honestly from a HR POV, I don’t even know where to start.
