To wonder... technology/phone

I got a new phone, had to switch the sim from my old phone to my new one. I've never done this before (I'm in my 60's) so I asked how to do it. The lovely phone shop staff showed me the tiny little pokey key that was in my phone pack and showed me how to use it.

I did it all.

But now I've got the wee pokey key. What the hell do I do with it? It will be lost down the back of a drawer. I'll never find it again.

So I wonder what do other people do? Are you so organised that you have a special (tiny) storage place; do you just know that one of your friends will have one handy; are there other things that are so tiny that they do the same job?

Or maybe I'll not need it again until I get my next new phone..

I keep the phone box and the little pokey thing stays in there - they’re handy if you get fluff in the charger port!

StSwithinsDay · 25/07/2023 22:57

I keep the phone box too. Apple used always supply a charging plug plus in-ear headphones. Not any more though.

NotBotheredAnymore · 25/07/2023 23:01

I keep the box with it in. Otherwise maybe you could keep it in your sewing box with all the other fiddly things such as pins and needles?

saltinesandcoffeecups · 25/07/2023 23:19

Personally…I lose the pokey key thing and use a needle or paper clip the next time.

Whataretheodds · 25/07/2023 23:23

Yeah, if you lose it you can use a paperclip or safety pin.

Places you could keep it:
Small sweetie tin inside your toolbox
Taped to a piece of paper in a file of useful docs
In the junk drawer

I think I know where my pokey thing is. But in reality I just use the earring I’m wearing at the time!

FuckNuggets · 25/07/2023 23:27

I keep it in my jewellery box.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/07/2023 23:27

I keep it in a cute little dish thing on my desk. It also has other small things in like paper clips, a memory stick, a few coins, a little tin of lip salve, random small things.

Boomboom22 · 25/07/2023 23:28

Jewellery box / sewing box / keys bowl / phone box. Depending 😆

HelpMeGetIntoShape · 25/07/2023 23:29

I attach my to my keys. Not that I use it unless I’m changing my phone.

SaltyCrisps · 25/07/2023 23:30

I keep mine in the phone box on top of the wardrobe :)

Fieldofbrokenpromises · 25/07/2023 23:32

I lose mine and use a paper clip for the rare times I change phone or sim.

SkiingIsHeaven · 25/07/2023 23:39

Cellotape it to a piece of card and put it in the junk drawer. You can write what it is on the card in case you forget.

It's quite common to end up with those tiny tools like the SIM card ejector pin and wonder what to do with them, as they're easy to misplace. Here are a few options that people often consider:

  1. Dedicated Storage: Some people create a designated storage spot for small items like SIM card ejector pins. This could be a small container, a drawer organizer, a tiny pouch, or even a section of a jewelry box. Keeping them in a specific place can make them easier to find when needed.
  2. Keep with Accessories: If you have a designated place for keeping electronic accessories, you could store the ejector pin there. This could include a tech drawer, a pouch, or a box where you store chargers, cables, and other small items.
  3. Attach to Keychain: If the ejector pin has a small hole or loop, you could attach it to a keychain along with your keys. This way, it's always with you and less likely to get lost.
  4. Tech Kit: Consider creating a small tech toolkit with items like the ejector pin, a small screwdriver set, and other tools you might need for your devices. This could be kept in a drawer or a small bag.
  5. Tape It: You could tape the ejector pin to the inside of a drawer or a commonly used area. This way, it's always in the same place and won't get lost.
  6. Digital Storage: If you're concerned about physical items getting lost, you could take a photo of the ejector pin and store it digitally on your phone or computer. This way, you'll always have a reference if you need it.
  7. Ask Friends and Family: If you're in touch with tech-savvy friends or family members, you could ask if they have a spare ejector pin or tool. They might have extras lying around.
  8. Tech Accessories Case: If you have a case for storing tech accessories, you could keep the ejector pin there. Many cases have small pockets or compartments for storing small tools.
  9. Craft Storage: If you're into crafting, you might have small containers or boxes for storing beads, buttons, or other small items. You could repurpose one of these containers for the ejector pin.
  10. Binder Clip: You could clip the ejector pin to a binder clip and attach the binder clip to a more visible location, like the edge of your desk or a bulletin board.
Remember, the goal is to find a solution that works for you and your habits. Whether it's finding a specific storage spot, attaching it to something you always carry, or incorporating it into an existing organizational system, the key is to make sure it's accessible when you need it.

This is the answer, use any old pokey thing
