AIBU To go out and get myself a cake to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary on my own?

… problem is I am on a diet and got divorced 15 years ago. Shall I?

What an odd thread. Confused If you want cake, get cake! But reminiscing over what WOULD have been your 25th wedding anniversary (fifteen years later!) IS odd (as @Hungrycaterpillarsmummy stated,) and does suggest you are still not over the break up.

My mum had been divorced - and remarried on the same date as her first wedding; she was very keen to celebrate the first silver wedding.

Sadly the 'second' silver wedding passed without comment - after both my parents died I came across their wedding certificate, and presumably because the divorce had taken a while, they'd got married two years later than they'd said.

Treat yourself to mark the 15 years you've been in a (hopefully) better situation.

Such a kill joy! Have fun, being forgiving is more enjoyable than being judgemental!

Frankly, I have gone through so much I know that when the time comes I will embrace my weirdness with joy and start wearing purple! 🤣

I would definitely celebrate that as well! I never imagined divorce was going to such an empowering experience when I was married. 🙂

Sorry to hear about your parents. 💐

Divorce can take so many years that times and dates become blurred, some lose their significance and some other times you have been through so much is not that you don’t care, it is just that you cannot remember the exact dates when things happened during the stressful time a divorce process may bring.

I don't need an excuse to eat cake !

I’m not sure what you say to a person that’s about to eat cake, the equivalent of “cheers!” with a drink? Bottoms up? Either way, enjoy.

Cheers! All cakes consumed, feeling very full but strangely happy with my little not so new freedom celebration. 🙂
