I am purchasing a house. The entire process has been a complete and utter nightmare but that's another story for another day.
The estate agent listed the house as being in County A, the survey, the mortgage, the house deeds, the registered title, and everything else all says the house is located in County A.
The house is actually located in County B. I have queried this with my solicitor who confirmed with the seller, the seller's solicitor and the estate agent that the house is definitely located in County B. Yet all the paperwork I'm about to sign still says County A.
I phoned the mortgage company and they said that it didn't matter to them and they weren't going to change it to County B.
I've raised the paperwork issue with my solicitor who says it doesn't matter and none of the documents need to be changed. I'm not even sure why the paperwork has the wrong county because it seems it's always been taxed by County B even before the seller bought it decades ago. The property is near the county boundary though and the house's post code is linked to a town in County A although I have no idea why this is the case because it is not the nearest town.
I don't care which county I live in but AIBU to think all the legal documents should state the right county? Or does it really not matter what county is listed and I should just sign the documents and get on with the purchase?
