To not declare my age?

I'm in my mid-40s and have just completed a career change - gained an MSc in a completely new field of work and got a place on a graduate scheme to learn more skills etc.

I started the scheme in April and it's been great, however I am quite conscious that I'm older than most of my colleagues while being the "junior" but it hasn't bothered me too much, I knew I needed to take a step down to get back up. However, I've also avoided telling most of my colleagues exactly how old I am - and it's quite clear that they think I'm about a decade younger than I am. (They're mainly in their 20s and therefore think everyone over 35 looks the same!)

All the other graduates are starting in September and yesterday I received an email asking us all to write a profile of ourselves- it was quite pointed that we needed to answer every question. The first question is "name and age". AIBU to feel really uncomfortable about this? It's a tech field, so there's a bit of imposter syndrome playing into this too, I just don't want to feel like everyone's mum/gran!

What is it with companies wanting people to give away characteristics that could attract discrimination in profiles? If I were you I would have a word with the person who asked.

just fudge the issu- "over 21"

I give out the information that a particular relationship needs. No more. I'm not giving my real DOB or gender sex for an email account or a loyalty card - or most things. I'm awkward like that. I like to say "no".

If it's for a profile rather than formal info that HR needs (eg to know about pension contributions or life insurance or similar) in which case it would be protected by GDPR, I'd go with a lighthearted "jokey" answer. "As young as I feel" "old enough not to be asked for ID" "age is for wimps".
