To want a microwave that doesn’t ceiling burn/peel ?

We are on our 100th microwave. Each lasts about 2-3yrs. We are binning perfectly working microwaves only because the inside the ceiling starts to get burnt and peels. I bought a plastic lid for covering food, but people in our house never use it.
Is there a way out? Are there better quality microwaves that cope better?

I have MAM baby bottles which steam sterlise in the microwave....as a result the microwave is knackered. Need to replace but waiting until bubs is 12 months so I can stop sterilising!!!!

It's the newer nes that do this. Old microwaves didn't.

We had this with our last microwave

It was not overused or mistreated
Finally binned it although it was still in full working order
We now have a Russel Hobbs one with a ceramic coating inside and no turntable
So easy to keep clean and use and no paint to flake!

How bizarre. I have never known this to happen and I don't always cover food but once it's cooked I take it straight out and leave it on the side. Last one lasted 25 years and I only got rid of it because it was so old and looked a bit shabby. Current one a year old and no peeling.

God- I have this problem. So many microwaves. I have given up buying any more.

Yep. Panasonic with the stainless steel inside

I got rid of my old ultra cheap one after twenty years as it was so large. I regret it. The new one is beginning to have this problem

gogomoto · 24/07/2023 12:14

I've never had damage, had them last 10 years, current one is 4 years old and stainless steel

Perhaps the trick is to be a very bad housekeeper, mine might not get cleaned very regularly Blush

That'll be why my 20 yr old one is still going strong then!
