As per the title...

I say personal, because for me, I'm one of those people that holds it all in and doesn't let anyone know I'm crumbling. It feels so personal and intrusive, almost, to discuss what stress does to me.

But it's an anonymous forum so I'll share, and I'm really curious what it looks like for too:

Broken sleep
Can't actually fall to sleep to begin with
Racing / intrusive thoughts
Feeling weak / tired / shaky
Feeling lightheaded / dizzy
Pacing
Avoiding being social
Over / under eating
Being irritable
Being snappy
Difficult to do anything I enjoy

So there's mine. Please share yours and make me feel less crazy 😩

I know im under immense stress when I become aware of what I can only describe as a small light flashing at the side of my eye in my peripheral vision?
No clue what it is but it's been happening for years and only when I'm stressed

Vgtasd · 22/07/2023 17:16

I get a twitch in my arm and grind my teeth even when awake

Sounds like it could be migraines? You can have just visual disturbances with no headache.

Lying awake knowing my death is coming- leading to night sweats and diarrhoea thru the night and until about 10am, wanting a alcoholic drink desperately and nausea until I get one (I don't have an alcohol problem and don't give in to the nausea- know it's anxiety talking)

AlyssumandHelianthus · 22/07/2023 17:23

In addition to many listed; chronic diarrhoea which can last months

AlyssumandHelianthus · 22/07/2023 17:24

Oh yeah, and grinding, clenching my teeth. Several of them have chipped from doing this

BellaJuno · 22/07/2023 17:24

So many of these but I know it’s bad when I retch when brushing my teeth, get tingles across my shoulders and my legs physically shake when I’m sitting down.

Exercise for me has been a great help in controlling symptoms, I have to do it regularly though. And beta blockers help a lot too.

WhatADrabCarpet · 22/07/2023 17:29

Liquid bowels. I had to 'early retire' because of this.

Foot tapping and leg giggling up and down while seated.

Racing heart
Palpitations which decaf tea has helped to reduce.

Nightmares

I first know I'm stressed because I start snapping at my DP (we usually get along absolutely brilliantly). As soon as I feel he's annoying me, I know I either have PMT (I get that symptom 2 days a month) or I'm stressed about something else.

anon1968 · 22/07/2023 17:33

Under eating/over eating
Fall asleep but struggle to stay asleep
overthinking even more than usual
Constantly questioning the simplest of things
not exercising when normally i’m very active, no motivation for doing the things i love.
not communicating with friends as much
In extreme times, loss of/blurred vision/

Neverknowinglysensible · 22/07/2023 17:36

Hair falling out in clumps in the shower.
Waking up with the 2 o’clock terrors and not being able to get back to sleep.
Very irritable and tearful.
IBS flares up.
Becoming incredibly clumsy.

SkiingIsHeaven · 22/07/2023 18:00

I get extra heartbeats that feel like I'm having a heart attack.

Also, sleepless nights and eat crap food which makes everything worse.

JackGrealishsCalves · 22/07/2023 18:42

Thankfully it doesn't affect me often but my main symptoms are
Irritability at the least little thing
Unable to make a decision, suppose its brain fog
Get frustrated at everything
Unable to enjoy anything
Feeling of doom
Wake up feeling sick
