To think eating someone else’s birthday present isn’t ok?

I think OH has been a bit mean here but prepared to hear that I’ve overreacted.

DS had a birthday this week. Both DS and OH love ice cream, so OH bought DS a tub of ice cream as a present.

DS is now on holiday with his dad for 2 weeks, and so OH has opened the ice cream, will eat it and then replace it.

I wouldn’t dream of doing that as it seems wrong to eat someone else’s present even if it would get replaced, but AIBU or am I justified to feel pissed off on behalf of DS?

But your son is away for two weeks. As long as the ice cream has replaced them, why does it matter?

My goodness, the number of times I've given in to temptation and eaten something that's not mine - but I've always replaced it afterwards, and as long as he does the same it's a complete non event.
