To ask about your little rebellions?

I’m sitting here about to get changed for Zumba and I want to wear shorts but my legs aren’t shaved. I will be wearing shorts anyway. It’s a little rebellion, a tiny “up yours” to the man.

I have always found little ways to rebel (recovering people pleaser) that don’t actually hurt anyone so that I don’t have one massive rebellion and ruin my life one day!!

I also don’t share food, even with my kids, and am unapologetic about it. It’s now a family joke.

What little rebellions do you enjoy?

I turn off BBC radio 4 Digital whenever they mention the sport in the morning Today show. Hate stupid horse racing, cricket, and the eleven billion boring men's / colonial sports.

So I get you @PuttingDownRoots

Everybody thinks I work longer hours than I actually do (wfh). I am often back in bed with a coffee after the school run.

This gives people who wfh the bad reputation they have lol. Sure I would do the same if I could but one of those who has to commute, work all day, commute back, pick up DC. Looking for a new job as I speak. Good for you being honest! Xx

These threads always seem to go from 'I tell the barista my name is Humphrette' to 'I've never paid for any of my shopping at M&S self check out' to 'I poison any living creature that enters my garden' in about twenty minutes. Confused

Was that the deleted post? That's despicable and so Hooe it's not true.

Jeannie88 · 23/07/2023 19:45

Teaching difficult classes, I turn around to the board and quietly mutter expletives and pull a devil face, then turn back round with a sweet and happy smile. Works wonders and just can't help it.

I just love that there is a mug like that out there! 🐏are very underrated, IMO.

They are! My boyfriend has a pet sheep, and he's naughty, very clever, very talkative, and a little sweetie. Actually surprised me how clever he is. Makes me feel guilty for thinking sheep are stupid! My friend's mum likes sheep too, so I know another crazy sheep lady. 🐑

This is the mug I got. There's a few different ones but I liked this one the most. 😊

One of my relatives seems to have married a misogynistic twat.
Anything I have sent that needed to be addressed to both of them is Mrs Lovely & Mr Twatface Baggins (obviously not real names)
Relative had a smile and acknowledged it in a msg exchange 😊

I thought you were describing your boyfriend for a second there 😂😂

Sometimes if I'm feeling REALLY annoyed with my husband, I don't wash his water bottle as thoroughly as I wash the children's and my own.

I know, I'm a psychopath.

Hard to believe these are adults allowed to look after children.

Good thing I don't have kids then! Yet...

Grin Should have clarified it a bit more, I can see where the confusion comes in! BF is a sweetie though. 😊 He loves that sheep, and sheepy adores him. ❤️

When I used to make DHs lunch box, if he had annoyed me I would put in a yogurt and no spoon.

Of course! The new roads confuse the Sat Nav! I just thought my SatNav was an idiot! 😂Half the time, I find myself telling her to buck her ideas up! 🤣

I didn't mean to add to the bad reputation of those who wfh. I did explain to someone upthread who said the same that I'm self-employed. No one loses out except my bank balance! It's actually a vital way for me to prevent family from stealing all my time with their constant demands. I should have explained that in my first comment.

I don’t care if other people want to announce to the world they have no pride in their appearance 🤷‍♀️

How DARE you claim that a woman who doesn’t shave her legs has ‘no pride’ in her appearance? How fucking DARE you?! I made a conscious choice to stop when I had DD, as I don’t want to teach her that she must change her body to meet patriarchal standards of ‘beauty’ in order to be acceptable. You are being rude, ignorant, and perpetuating patriarchal control of women. Stop it!

midgetastic · 24/07/2023 12:59

I do t care if other people want to announce to the world that they equate ( female only I guess ) shaved legs with virtue - it just tells me who isn't worth talking to

Not sure what @FlowersInTheSky would think of me. I don't even shave my lady garden before i wear a bathing suit.

Mostly because I cannot even see my lady garden. (hence user name).

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 24/07/2023 16:23

@Westsussexisbest

i love this. My DD used to complain she didn't like stews OR casseroles. So I'd prepare whatever stew or casserole I had planned and then put a pastry top on it to make it into a pie. She loved pies!

But as a Brighton girl I have to disagree with you on which Sussex is best.

CoffeeCantata · 24/07/2023 16:34

I refuse to pay the 'donation' on top of an entrance charge for exhibitions etc. They are expensive enough, and like the theatre, they're on the edge of being unaffordable for most people (towards £20 in London museums). The person on the ticket desk is often taken aback - they clearly expect us all to roll over without complaint.

Sure - if you're a tourist maybe that's reasonable - but I'm a taxpayer and I've already paid a whack towards these things. When I go abroad, where I'm not a taxpayer, I just pay up without a word.

(Me and husband work in museums, so I'm not being a philistine.)

Allwelcone · 24/07/2023 17:49

@CoffeeCantata that's a good one! Is that the gift aid? I refused to pay that once at the vv posh privately owned castle. The family own half of London ffs!

Unless you're part of the viewing figures scheme what you watch makes no difference to the figures. They're extrapolated from a data set of people who take part, with their full knowledge and permission so you would know if it was you, not actually calculated from every TV in the country.

So that’s how they do it? I’ve always wondered 🙈

I am a member at an art museum & I am able to bring in 3 guests a day for free as part of my membership level. Sometimes when I stop in by myself, I offer to bring in some people waiting in the ticket queue (usually elderly or people who look on the less-wealthy side) - as a bonus, they also get to enter right away because they’re with a member.
